El nabo gigante (Spanish Edition)

Me encantó esta historia. No hay nada como una historia creativa y escrita con talento. La traducción es excelente, sin embargo algunas palabras no las uso en mi español, pero eso no me molesta para nada. Disfruto tanto de leerlo a mi peque.

We are an English speaking family, doing a dual language program. This was a fun little read, with a repetative form (like 12 days of Christmas). I'm a very limited Spanish reader, and this was just at my level of being able to read it without too much halting mispronounciation.

A beautiful book, excellent for little ones to appreciate a classic in a new language. The verb "halar" can be confusing to those of us familiar with the Mexican way of writing this word, but the translator has made a good case for its usage. This is a book to be enjoyed again and again with the kids.

As the translator of this book, I would like to respond to the comment made by N.S. Bruno. Both "halar" and "jalar" are Spanish verbs meaning "to pull", and both are correct. The pertinent definition of "halar" in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy is "Tirar hacia sí de algo" (to pull something towards oneself). This variation is used in several Latin American countries, including Cuba, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. It is also used in parts of Spain with the same meaning. I believe "jalar" is used in Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries as well. It is perfectly valid, but so is "halar." It is often difficult to translate for Latin American readers in the United States precisely because people from different countries say things in different ways. I hope that in the future N.S. Bruno will get more information before classifying an unfamiliar word as a "grievous translation error."

This classic story is a must-have for any children. The book is nicely done and easy to read.Commenting on the previous reviewer, Jalar is defined in my Spanish dictionary, Pequeño Larousse, as a Mexican and Peruvian variation of the word Halar, originally a nautical term meaning Pull on a rope.

El desarrollo de la historia es divertido. Es acumulativo, lo cual gusta mucho a los peques. El final a mí me pareció un poco soso, pero la niña se ríe mucho, que es lo importante. Tapa dura y tamaño grande, buena calidad

El Nabo gigante es una simpática historia sobre cooperación, colaboración y ayuda mutua. El nabo creció y creció tanto, que el campesino necesita la ayuda y fuerza de muchos para poder cosecharlo. La historia es relativamente larga para niños pequeños, hay muchas frases y situaciones que se repiten, pero justamente ese es el lado positivo. Fue el libro favorito de mi niño de dos años, por muchos muchos meses, y es que son esas frases que se repiten lo que le dan seguridad en el idioma (sobre todo en niños que crecen con dos idiomas), al punto de que terminan aprendiendo la historia de memoria, prestandose a la interacción y a la lectura mutua. Los dibujos son muy atractivos para la curiosidad visual de niños y grandes. Un libro recomendable

Nos encanta este libro a toda la familia. Es muy divertido y los dibujos son muy chulos.
