Must Read
This is a great book. I liked it so much, I purchased a copy for a friend. If you have avid readers, teachers, care about social issues etc. this is a book for you. It is heavy at times, but the main character had me in her corner wanting the best for her.

Everyone needs to read this book!
"I am not a wasted waste. I am Adunni. A person important enough because my tomorrow will be better than today"ALL the stars for this book!! Putting my feelings into words after such a powerful story feels impossible. This story tore at every seam of my heart. It was both beautiful and devastating. I was horrified then filled with hope.Adunni is one of the best characters i've ever read. She is the epitome of strength and bravery. Every obstacle, she overcame. Every time she should have died inside due to circumstances, she fought and continued to flourish. The descriptions of people and places were so thorough it really put me in this book. I could feel every moment. This story portrayed so well how even when everything seems hopeless, just one person believing in you can change everything. I want to be that friend, that encourager and supporter of others.Adunnis character so brilliantly displayed how to never give up. Never allow anyone to silence you or say you're not enough. Everyone has value. Every. Single. Person is important. This book will be a forever favorite! I will recommend it to everyone! My children will read this book. I will carry this story in my heart forever. I will never forget it and I am sure I will reread it again and again.

This is a perfect book
I rarely take the time to write a review, however this is a perfect book. I think it is the only one she has written so far. I hope she writes another soon. I have found every aspect of what writing is all about done extremely well with this book. What matters a lot to me is that I can sit back and enjoy it with out being attacked with horrible language and a lot of bad morals. I recommend this book highly.

Love the Louding Voice
By the fourth sentence, I’m in love with the character’s voice. She speaks in the dropped words of a foreigner, with a little bit of pidgin, like in Hawaii. It’s because she’s not as educated as the reader, but she’s more educated than her father. Here are the first four sentences from the young and feisty woman:“This morning, Papa call me inside the parlor. He was sitting inside the sofa with no cushion and looking me. Papa have this way of looking me one kind. As if he wants to be flogging me for no reason, as if I am carrying shit inside my cheeks and when I open mouth to talk, the whole place be smelling of it.“The story is about owning your voice, and the language of Adunni, who lives as a neglected daughter in Nigeria, isn’t easy to read. But it puts me right inside the head of this poor girl whose father has accepted a dowry equal to one month’s rent and sold his daughter to a man with two wives. The horrors Adunni faces are tempered with female friendship and laughing children, making a bittersweet life, until things take a drastic turn and a terrifying twist.I recommended this book to readers who are interested in other cultures, who appreciate being reminded of how fortunate their lives are, and for those who want to use their voice to make the world a better place.
