Q: What batteries does this take and what are the version 2 improvements?

Unlike other similar sets on Amazon, this set includes all the batteries so you do not need to worry about buying anything extra for it. The 2 x AA Batteries for the Drill are included. Version 2 improvements include more precise wheel tightening so the wheels do actually turn on the car after assembly, and the drill has an improved anti over-tightening mechanism in it. There is also an improved user manual in many languages and packaging improvements.

Q: The box pictures says "lights and sounds," but it says nothing in the desription, reviews or questions about it. Does this do such things?

This is the latest model and has many improvements over similar looking sets you may see on Amazon. Yes, there is a switch on the engine part that when turned on will activate the motion sensor at the front of the car. Whenever something moves in front of the headlights, the car makes a cool engine sound and the headlights flash. This is a very fun toy for kids.

Q: Once constructed is this vehicle strong enough for my fifty pound child to push around?!?!

Push around? Or stand on and stuff? It's well constructed and cool to put together. If you're asking if it will hold up being pushed around by hand and bashed around by hand you'll be fine. My four yr old beats it up and it stays together
