This Is London

I am delightedto discover that the ‘This Is’ series of books by Miroslav Sasek are in print. I am surprised at how little these books have dated and how they look as fresh, witty and unique today as they did when they were first published in 60’s. The information has been updated at the end of the book - however this doesn’t seem to matter as his knowing, economic and amusing text and wonderful illustrations carry us pigeon like on a journey across the city. This is very much a style that is bang back in fashion.

I think whether you know London or not: this book is amazing. I grew up there but my 3 year old and twin babies don't know London: they love learning from it. And my husband and I have just loved the pictures and beautiful paintings of what london was like in the 50s. All the cars parked in front of Westminster abbey is amazing, and the sights are so different as it was just another city then: but for a family it is perfect and on a budget as the sights in 1950s london did not cost the amount the new attractions are now! Great buy!

Delighted with this. Big bold pictures and fabulous colours. Quite a large book for small hands, but ideal for Parents to read with sons/daughters

This is such a good find. The images are so beautiful and it is such a high quality book. It is a little too old for my 2 year old, but she loves looking at the pictures. Would definitely recommend.

Very informative for an older child.
