The longtime knock on energy efficient LED bulbs is that they do not spread light around in a pleasing way. Instead, light is typically very directional. This works in many fixture types, but for those where bulbs are visible, the results are awkward and sometimes harsh and unpleasing when looking in the bathroom mirror or relaxing in bed at night.To get around this, manufacturers have tried different "scrimming" techniques to give the appearance of a pleasing soft widespread light that is omnidirectional. Until recently, these types of less directional bulbs have been quite a bit more expensive than regular shaped bulbs. Design solutions have varied widely.Why is this important? For open fixtures like typical bathroom above the sink sconces, and for dining chandeliers, directional bulbs not only look weird, the don't cast light downward like you need when starting at yourself at 6 a.m. in at the bathroom sink.Recently, several companies have mimicked the old-style filament look, with mixed results. The Asencia FG-03666 came very close indeed yet they are no longer available so I’ve switched to GE Halogen, with most made in Hungary. They spread light around perfectly. When not staring at the bulb itself, there is happily zero difference in the light spreading ability of these in comparison to old style incandescents. He only downside is that they are less energy efficient compared with full LED bulbs.A19 style LED bulb designs may still improve in coming years.By the way, I have no relationship with any consumer company of any type. I'm just a slightly "dim" detail guy who perhaps over analyzes these things who has always looked for a great combination of value and quality in all things consumer related. My wife has long given me the nickname "Johnny Consumer" and puts up with this side of my personality admirably!

All 4 light bulbs arrived safely and were packed good and I wanted them to use in my vintage sconces and my stained glass lamp and they are perfect lighting for them thinking about ordering more of them for the future can't say how long they will last because I just got them these bulbs say on the package that they only last 0.9 years and then I decided to order another package of 4 and the new package says that they last 1.4 years and they were shipped from another destination so I hope that the new ones are improved and I have bought 4 packages of light bulbs from Amazon now and none of them were broken they were all packed good

I like the light bulbs and are perfect for my use but when they where delivered one of the light bulbs was shattered. So far the rest of the light bulbs work. The packaging had one side protected and the other side was not protected. Since there was no fragile sign on the box USPS just threw on my door step.

So not to get long winded but here goes. I have a water softener system and at times it gets below freezing where I live. The rep from the company told me to get an old school mechanics light that you would hang under a hood of a car to see and place it under the cover of the electronics of the water softener unit to keep it from freezing. The equipment has a cover so this would go underneath with the light on just to keep it semi warm or not freeze.I had put a led bulb out there then realized they don’t really give off any heat. So I bought this one which is halogen. PERFECT! Still energy efficient for the type of bulb and gives off a small amount of heat. It’s not like the old type so for a house application they don’t get hot like the old school halogens. The light is classic and warm.
