Q: is there a trick to getting the bulb out when it needs replacing?

Be sure to unplug lamp and let bulb cool down. I use one of those garden gloves with little plastic dots to get a better grip on bulb:-) The directions read like this. "Grasp the tube firmly, angle it very slightly down, then pull it from socket." Mostly it is a matter of a firm grip.

On lamp, by bulb it says to use only 13 Watt 120V60Hz AC only replacement bulb. I highly recommend using on OttLite Brand bulbs.

This lamp is powered by AC cord and not battery. A refresh lamp is marketing speak for a regular task lamp. I've used these lamps 20 years and this newest one is no different than the prior.
