Product Description Top Gear 18In season 18 of the world's most extreme car show, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May visit India as they attempt to promote British trade armed only with three old cars, a badly behaved lawnmower and a trouser press. They also drive supercars across Italy, make a movie car chase, re-invent the mobility scooter, get soaking wet in track day cars, go motor racing for less than the cost of playing golf, tour the Chinese car industry, immerse themselves in the world of NASCAR, and drive a brand new Ferrari through a snow field. Plus, The Stig hits the test track in the Mercedes SLS Roadster, BMW M5, Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, and an insane pre-war Bentley powered by a 27-litre Spitfire engine, and the Reasonably Priced Car feels the raw driving power of stars including will.i.am, Ryan Reynolds, Slash, Matt LeBlanc, Michael Fassbender and Matt Smith. If this show was any more exciting it'd be set in space.]]> .com What makes Top Gear such fantastically entertaining television is that it is only in the loosest sense a show about cars. In truth, it's a forum for three delightful Brits to bicker, snipe, and compete with each other as they drive cars hither and yon. Jeremy Clarkson (tall, hefty, urbane, and witheringly witty), James May (understated and sturdy, referred to as "Eeyore" by the others at one point), and Richard Hammond (short and wiry, packed with irrepressible energy) are just about the perfect guys to hang out with--they combine enthusiasm for cars with a gleeful desire to poke fun at each other using dry but infectious humor. Each episode follows a regular pattern: a test drive of a snazzy new vehicle (a Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, a Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nurburgring, a Fisker Karma, a KTM X-Bow, and many more), a spot of car news (which is really just an excuse for them to toss out competing hyperbole), and having a celebrity drive a reasonably priced car (including will.i.am, Michael Fassbender, Dr. Who's Matt Smith, Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, Ryan Reynolds, and Matt LeBlanc, who proves himself a pretty good driver). Then the rest of each show is filled out with a bit of variety, which could be launching a car with an air cannon, racing wheelchairs, exploring the obsessiveness of Saab engineers, critiquing the Chinese car industry, and having AC/DC's lead singer Brian Johnson drive an electric car. But perhaps the most enjoyable episode is the special in which they take three British-made cars--a Jaguar, a Rolls-Royce, and a Mini Cooper--to India to improve Anglo-Indian relations… and generally demonstrate that, while they know everything about cars, they know almost nothing about anything else. Top Gear combines the glossy cinematography and razzle-dazzle editing of a car commercial with the rapid-fire dialogue of clever Brits… and really, what more can you want? This is entertainment in its purest form. Sheer delight. --Bret Fetzer

Another great season from Top Gear UK
I will preface this by saying that I'm an American, and Top Gear UK is one of my favorite programs.- I've see some of the US series, and why bother? It's not worth watching.- This is probably the most re-watched series I have, up there with Arrested Development, this is great time and time againAs for this season, I have to say There are 2 really great episodes -1) ep 3 - filming the car chase scenes, hilarious really sticking to the producers2) The India special - A pretty special episode, where somehow Jeremy / Richard / James had sent a letter about doing a trade mission to India to David Cameron's cabinet. Apparently the government did read the letter and didn't find their propositions to be suitable. To get a clip of David Cameron's comments on the proposed missions, they hung out outside of some building waiting for him, and were immediately recognized, with David saying 'you handle the cars, we'll handle the diplomacy' and of course they go to India anyway on their 'trade mission.' This is really worth watching nomatter what country you are from. Hilarious how they anger the Indian big wigs, probably landing them in hot water with the BBC / UK gov.

Still the best!
We dumped cable about 4 years ago and the only program that we miss from a line up of nearly 250 channels is Top Gear. Each year we buy the season and each year it has been great fun. The only problem is that the time watching a series goes by too fast. Top Gear USA is OK, but nothing beats the original. I do miss some of the older show's challenges, such as building a caravan (motor home) or racing them. I know that some of their antics are intentionally bad/over the top and others are in on it (I hope), but many are so bad that I cringe (See the posh house party in India). At times they play too much to the characters that we expect that is feels a tad fake, but we expect that. Jeremy goes at things without thinking and would use use a tank to drive a nail (or worse a screw). He will undoubtedly intentionally mess up James' vehicle in the challenge. James will drive slowly and go on about the number and make-up of the grommets in a 1944 Lancaster bomber. Richard will still drive a Porsche and still be accused of being a closet American.

Explosions, epic failures, worldly trips, what's not to like?
If you are a top gear fan you will not be disappointed with this latest season. As usual there are explosions, disasters, and shining examples of teamwork by abandoning a host with a broken-down car.One highlight is when they attempt to build off-road wheelchairs so that disabled people can enjoy nature. If you are a top gear fan you already know that they just do not succeed and fail in the most epic and funny and laugh out loud manner. (I love it watching Jeremy's 8 wheel vehicle barrel down the hill minus the driver!)That, and their attempt to direct a realistic car chase by including dialogue on turning the traction control off just is precious. I can just see a remake of Ronin where Robert Deniro radios to turn traction control off and put it in sport mode as the baddies are chasing them! The only disappointment is that one of the CDs has the turd of USA Top Gear in it. I wish they'd drop USA Top Gear already and I'm an American.

Top Gear 18's India Special DVD - WOW!
The quality of the DVD itselt was excellent. New, I'd say. And it arrived sooner than expected. The order processing was swift and careful. I can apply the same remarks to my previous order of the Alcoholism and Adiction Cure book and DVD. I shall non hesitate to make use of Amazon.com in the future.I do have some brief remarks regarding the contents of the Top Gear DVD:My husband is from Mumbai and the whole family has spent a good amount of time traveling around the country. We couldn't supress our waves of laughter and were in absolute stitches, almost literally bouncing off the walls (okay, writhing on the couches!) as we watched the complete Mumbai to the Himalayas adventure/competition/race. They claimed they were on a self-styled Trade Mission to India to boost British exports there! But with near-catastrophic results! Leave it to the Brits to carry that one off! A very funny DVD, indeed! I think people who've ever visited India would particularly get a good chuckle watching it.

Great show in great quality on Amazon Prime
Top Gear is the best TV show anywhere in the world IMO - too bad us Americans have to wait so long to see the latest episodes. Not anymore thanks to Amazon Prime and BBC for enabling us to see the new shows sooner and in such supreme quality. As of this writing though only the India special and the first 2 episodes of season 18 were available. While all three were awesome, BBC has already finished airing the whole 7 episodes of season 18 just under three months ago.Lets make sure that the Top Gear crew get the money deserved for such an excellent presentation and not lose sales to illegal downloads in the same quality hours after airing. Amazon/BBC: Please bring the new episodes out quicker - the longer you delay the more sales are lost.Perhaps Clarkson will agree with my American logic? Us American Top Gear fans can only hope!

Top Gear (British) is listed as 'comedy' but it is far more than that.
I was very much enjoying the Top Gear Season 18, my main reason for joining Prime only ONE month ago. Now, changes to Prime programming asks that pay $1.99 per episode. This I find very irritating as well as disappointing. I feel ripped off, quite frankly Top Gear (British, not American) is a suburb program for those (few?) of us who enjoy cars - especially cars that you can tell the difference between and that have the grand factors that give art to the science of engineering an automobile. I highly recommend it. (The American version is very sophomoric and uninteresting.) Now, let me see, where can I buy the DVD set for watching the other twenty+ seasons. Should I cancel PRIME .... hmmmm

The original cast at their best
This is one of the last seasons with the original cast and they're the best. James, Jeremy, and Richard all doing crazy stunts with occasional car reviews and appearances by the Stig. This is a great set that allows you to go back and laugh whenever you need to.

Just refill my Top Gear collection
I original have Top Gear serious episode from season 10 to season 21. I just added the last episode season 22 to my Top Gear collection last month. I bought season 18 because I lost it last year. I like watch and collect Top Gear because their three former hosts made Top Gear most watchable, entertaining car shows, test drives, challenges and interviews in the movies. I will miss them.

Edizione: americana
Questo dvd è stato fatto per essere visto in America e Canada, non mi piace il menù di scelta episodi e l'unico motivo per comprarlo è l'opzione sottotitoli che, pare, nell'"edizione regno unito" manca.

All The Way From The USA
Being a die hard Petrol Head and confirmed Top Gear nut, series 18 was a must have.Kicking off with the India Special, which annoyed a lot of people and disappointed a lot of others, were treated to a mouthwatering selection of the worlds most exotic motors, among them the Lamborghini Aventador, the Mercedes AMG SLS Roadster and Chris Evans Ferrari collection.Theres a race across Italy in three Supercars,Richard heads off to NASCAR,James justifys his hatred of the Nurburgring, and Jeremy proves he should stay in-front of the camera and never be let loose behind it.You even get the likes of Kimi Raikkonen,Ryan Reynolds and rock god Slash driving the reasonably priced car.In short a cracking series that wont disappoint any Top Gear fan.Thats the good news, the bad news is,with series 19 now available for pre order,it looks like here in the UK series 18 going to be another no show, just like series 12.Its a bit much that a British TV programme, funded by the British license payer is available everywhere in the world, except Britain,Infact Id say its nothing short of disgusting, and the BBC should hang their head in shame for allowing this. This US version of the series seems to be completely intact, but most,if not all of the music has been changed, and you will need a region free player to watch it on.And I must warn you this NTSC version does lack clarity, the picture quality is a bit soft and fuzzy. There is a more expensive region 2 version available, but I don't know if its the intact series. So its5 stars for the actual series4 stars for the picture qualityand 1 star, and an early morning firing squad, for the BBC for treating the people who fund it like dirt, and forcing me to import a UK programme from the US.
