Beginning his career as a teen idol in the late 1950's, actor and singer James Darren first rose to fame via his role in the popular 1959 hit movie Gidget, and soon after had a string of pop hits including the million seller "Goodbye Cruel World" in 1961. In 1998 he received renewed popularity as a singer via his role as holographic crooner and advice-giver Vic Fontaine in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Presented here is Darren's rare 1971 album, "Mammy Blue" performing popular tunes ranging from Hank Williams to the Beatles. All selections newly remastered.

Worth Waiting For
This is my second favorite James Darren album (All being the first). There is a mix of styles including country (Cold, Cold Heart) and rock (a Beatles mash-up and a Rolling Stones mash-up) that has broad appeal. Anyone who is a true fan should have this CD -- just to see how wide his range of styles can be. He is a very talented man. Now if only the other 1970's album (Love Songs fro the Movies) would be released as a CD.
