The instructions that came with my 1-Zone timer (Model 73015) include this quote: "Insert two AA alkaline batteries (Do not use rechargeable batteries) as indicated on the battery holder." AA alkaline batteries are rated at 1.5V output and it could be the lower 1.2V output of rechargeable NiMH batteries (Eneloop) is insufficient to operate the device.
