Remember those LCD games in the early 90's? It's like someone decided to bring those back and add a GPS to them. This thing is super unintuitive to use. I guess you're supposed to look up geocaches on the website, go to the general area, and then use the geomate to go to the nearest location and hope its the right one.

but there are not good instructions available and it is not easy
I can get this thing to produce coordinates, but there are not good instructions available and it is not easy. It is NOT for children: I purchased it along with three others (other brands) for use with fifth graders and guess which one was always the last one chosen?

Didn't Work
I brought 3 of these for summer day camp. A waste of money on my part. They would not pick up the coordinates on the walking trails to locate treasure boxes. The kids were very disappointed.

Only good for caches hidden before 2011.
Device is preloaded with older geocaches. You can not update the device with a Mac computer. Buy something else.

Wish making our own geocashe spots was less cumbersome.

Most accurate GPS we have ever used!
This is the most accurate GPS unit we have ever had, which is saying a lot because we have been geocaching for 5 years now and have found 10,000 caches. This was our first unit and the reason we got into geocaching because it was easy to use. If you are going to geocache with this unit make sure it has or you buy the update kit cord so you can upload new geocaches. This unit is perfect for kids and we have used it many times in a school setting. The unit displays the GC (Geocaching Code), difficulty, terrain, and size of the cache container. It does not however provide the cache page description or hint for the cache. This is no problem though because the description and cache page hint are easy to look up if you want at home or on your smart phone out in the field. If we were going to find a difficult cache and someone gave us the choice of our $400 GPS, a smart phone, or a Geomate Jr. hands down we would take the Geomate Jr. because nothing beats it's accuracy for coordinates.
