Hydrofarm SGO100C Convertible Ballast, 1000W,White

I was a little hesitant about ordering this ballast for such a low price and after reading the reviews mentioning it bursting into flames however it's working perfectly so far and I have been able to run not only metal halide and HPS but it even works for my 1000 watt mercury vapor bulb. So that's really awesome it's like 3 ballasts in 1. It does get really hot, but I mounted it on a steel shelve, then attached a box fan to the side of the shelf blowing on the ballast. I wired both to the same switch and it runs much cooler, no doubt it should last much longer that way. The ballast is as noisy as expected for a 1000w magnetic ballast. Which is to say it's LOUD lol. Overall very happy with it. Only issue was the fact it was shipped in nothing but the retail box, no packing material, box was nearly ripped open. It was fine though.

gets a lot less hot then my old one, the technology seems to have come a long way which is super cool.also no electromagnetic interference so there is that, or isn't there.

Bought 5. 2 caught on fire

I have used these for 10 years in a commercial size grow in Colorado. I replace the high dollar digital ballasts with these work horses when they crap out. Great ballast with a long life. Some of them I've been running 12 hours a day for 8 years now. They just run everyday everytime no problem.

Just what I needed, priced right. I have used magnetic ballasts for years, and they all still work great. Tried going digital, have blown through 3 pretty quickly. So when I needed another one, found this. Basic to say the least, but a great value

Bought ballast 8/3/2017. Today it burned up! Not happy! Says 2 year warranty. We’ll see how this gets handled. I’ll update when I receive a response from the seller or amazon. For now, I do not recommend this ballast. Spend the extra $40 and get a better one.

Needed this ASAP and like always Amazon delivered immediately. Plugged it in and it works as it should.

Went through 2 digital ballasts in weeks. They would not turn on when my timer would had to unplug and plug back in to get them to turn on. This old school ballast works like it is supposed to!

Exactly what I was looking for at a competitive price and delivered right to my house.
