Undersung heros!
Use these! You should because that ESP is 3.3v and lots of sensors use 5v. You can get away with it sure.. wonder why there were Two grounds...

Worked for me - easy to use.
Works perfectly for using with NodeMCU 8266 3.3v logic to 5v sensors or LEDs. Does require soldering. I've only used 2 out of the 4 channels on any given module, but would expect them to work as well fully loaded.

It works. Testing of this device reveals how it should be used.
This device works. The problem is a description of how to use it that is VERY confusing. Attached is a table with my test results. The important results are highlighted. If you want to use LV input and get HV output, drive "TXI" with input and read TXO as output. If you want to use HV input and get LV Output, drive "RXI" and read "RXO". You drive input "??I" and read corresponding Output "??O". The device has bi-directional capability BUT you must choose the I/O pair for the direction you want to go. Hope this helps... :)

These are not truly bi-directional
Unless I have received a faulty converter; TX pins seem to be permanently clamped to the reference voltage on the side where the TX pin is (5V for the High Side, 3.3V for the Low Side). The RX pins can be signaled. But they only convert to 3.3V.Going from Higher Voltage (5V) to Lower Side, it converts to 3.3VIf one tries to go the other direction, from Low Side (3.3V) it does NOT convert to 5V on the Higher Voltage Side. Instead one gets 3.3V on the Higher Voltage Side.

It does not convert from 3.3V to 5v
This product does not convert 3.3v to 5v if you are looking to do that (like controlling a ws2812b LEDs for example). The detailed description of the production does seem to indicate that, but the main description. Do not buy this if you are converting from 3.3 to 5. It will not work. I am sure that it is good for 5 to 3.3. I wish that the main description is accurate.
