Obviously this is a toy and not for real lessons. There are no pedals and only 15 strings. However, for a toy it produces a very nice sound. It does need to be tuned and you will need to tune it almost every time you play (just like a real harp) for optimum performance. The stool is a nice size and it is a good height for a 3-4 year old. She can lay it on her shoulder and reach all the strings. This is enough to teach twinkle little star on and test the waters before investing $1k in a real children's harp.The only improvement I can think of would be some rubber caps on the ends of the feet. It slips on solid floors when you lay it back so you'll want to play it on a rug or carpet, or get some rubber grips to stick on.

Please don't buy this as a musical instrument. It is NOT! It is a toy! You cannot learn to play harp on it. It is cute; but the strings are the wrong spacing for a true harp, the sound is bad, and it won't hold in tune.But it is great for a photo or a two year old to pretend. If you want a true small size harp that plays, check out heartland harps, harpsicles, or go to any harp online store and type in lever harp.I am a professional harpist and teacher.

This harp has nylon strings, and I thought it would hold its tune about as well as a cheaper classical guitar. It does not. It has to be tuned nearly every day, which makes its value zero. My daughter would play it, but every single time she sits down it's badly out of tune, and unless I immediately have 10 minutes to dig my chromatic tuner out and tune the thing up, she loses interest and wanders off.I would also note that this is probably too small for a child older than 4 or 5 to comfortably sit on the bench and play.

Really cute and seems sturdy. However, no instructions included about how to assemble to stool or tune it. The papers that were included were for a toy piano.
