I'm about to get two Maine Coon kittens (from the same breeder). I have had cats since 1990 along with dogs. My oldest cat died in October at 17+. We decided we'd be ready for a cat by spring. This book is a good prep for any kitten and the MC specifically (I've had a MC mix who died of HCM at 14 - hence wanting a breeder's screening). I do wish that cat people wouldn't assume that there are dog people and cat people. The describe introducing the kitten to an established cat, but not dogs. Since I'm a certified trainer, I have more than an educated guess on this, but others may need the pointers to introduce kittens to dogs.

If you have a Maine Coon or are thinking about buying one then this book is very informative and will help you with almost all your questions.It’s very well presented and is full of advice from real life experiences along with helpful tips too.Great value for money as well.

Bought this as the reviews were so positive. I am the proud mom of a Maine Coon. This book is clearly written with a lot of love. This book does have a lot of useful information for regular Maine Coon guardians and for those interested in showing/breeding Maine Coons.

A very well written and accurate book on the Maine Coon Breed. I highly recommend it! A must read for Maine Coon Lovers.The only item in the whole book I did not fully agree with was the "line stating Maine Coon kittens grow slowly". That's funny to me, being a Maine Coon Breeder for 20 years. The kittens mature slowly, but grow like Great Dane puppies. Doubling in size each month from 1 to 6 months of age.Everything else in the book is "right on" as this breed is very special and so is this book. A great book on this breed!!!!!!!!!!Well worth the small purchase price.
