Yes to used. I saved all of the pod cups that came with my Nespresso, carefully cutting away the foil, dumping & cleaning the pods. I bought the refill kit that makes the filling easy. You have to pack the finely ground coffee well to the top & brush off stray grounds at edge to get a good seal, then be careful in sealing edge so not to cover the code under pod that the machine reads, but seal well so it stays on. Good luck!

Honestly, I am a coffee junkie...haha. I drink 10 to 12 cups a day and have found if I sit down and waste an afternoon I can usually do enough pods to last me through the week with no difference in coffee tast from day 1 to day 7. And the foil seals well enough you wouldn’t be able to notice a difference if you did two weeks at a time

Q: Why would I recover the capsule if I've already used the coffee? Does the foil allow you to purchase your own coffee and refill the pods?

Yes, you can cut off the old foil, clean out the used coffee, repack the pod with coffee ground to "nearly" espresso fine, packed as firmly as you can. The foils then recover the pod for use in the machine. They work great, at a cost of about half of what you spend on pods from nespresso.
