Very Best of the Byrds

Nostalgia REDEFINED
I knew I was reaching back to the 60s in purchasing this CD. It probably would have been a more accurate journey had I ordered the music on vinyl. However, by ordering it on CD, I had the opportunity to make a stop in the 90s by getting a cracked jewel case with the cover hinges broken off. The memories... Then hurtling back to the 60s, I was treated to the harmonies, re-interpreted Dylan songs, the bold new sound of Roger McGuinn on a Rickenbacker 12 string guitar and visions of a temporarily sober, baby-faced, David Crosby as the songs that I remembered from 55+ years ago came pouring from the speaker. Worth every penny!

Reminded me of why the Byrds were great
I was a teenager back in the 1960s and heard many of the Byrds' hits on the radio. Hearing them all in one place reminded me of what an outstanding band they were. The recording is good and their best songs are all included. I especially liked Chestnut Mare, a fanciful song on a topic not usually heard in pop music.

I would call this "The Very Best of the BYRDS Vol
I would call this "The Very Best of the BYRDS Vol.1" The 24(yes 24) songs are mostly in the early days, up to "Chestnut Mare" and "8 Miles High" and some others. The songs have been incredibly "cleaned up" and the instruments are so true and clear you would think they are playing right next to you! The separation adds even more dynamics! You can hear each individual voice during the harmonies. I hear something new each time I listen. This is an amazing Album for all BYRSS fans and those who soon will be!

this is the best Byrds collection out there
I believe that other than the second boxed set, this is the best Byrds collection out there. It covers all phases of their career and contains the single version of Goin Back. It has all the hits and then some. My only regret is that the single version of Why and the recording of I Know You Rider are not on it. I also like the earlier version of Baby Blue, while this set contains the Easy Rider version. But, these are small issues. As an introduction to the Byrds, this cd can't be beat for content, sound and price. Go for it!

OK Music
Several songs I was not familiar with and not sure I would call it the Very Best. Everything else was fine.

Best of the Byrds
I enjoyed the CD. The sound quality appears to be the original recording sound. I like the Byrds so it's just fine to me.

Swinging '60s sweetest sound!
In 1968 I was 15 years old. That magic/uniquely turbulent decade shaped the lives of my generation. I know The Byrds, of course. But what made me buy this jewel of a disc was watching RFK film made in 2002. At a certain point in the movie, the song "Turn! turn! turn!", The Byrds version, so engagingly drew me into the picture that Bobby, his hopes, our hopes became one thing with the music and lyrics. Originally written by Pete Seegers, USA folk singer songwriter, and so aptly captured by The Byrds, it is the gem, to me, of this disc; all the other songs, too, make it what it is, The Very Best of The Byrds, among them, Mr Tambourine Man, The Times are A-Changing, Mr Spaceman are just poems. Glad about this purchase, convenient price!
