To be fair, this is the toughest soft toy our little girl ever got to tear into. Normal toys last 5 minutes or less before they go in the trash. It took her 45 minutes of non-stop gnawing to get a hole started but once she got to the stuffing it was empty within the hour. It's been almost 3 weeks and it's still her favorite toy. Even though it's now limp, torn, and disgusting, it was definitely worth buying.

We have a god that is not a natural chewer, but we had another version of this product that became her favorite toy to play with, however she ended up focusing on the black seams that stitch this together and it started to fall apart.So, we bought this version, which is supposed to be the toughest they make. Nope. Once again, she started at the seams, and within a week there were black strands of thread everywhere. We started to just cut them off the toy, but within 24 hours it was back to looking like a mess. Sorry, but I can't recommend this product especially with their "toughness" marketing gimmick - it lasted no longer than the first one. Won't buy again.

I’ve spent a LOT of money in search of toys that stand up to our three Aussies (the youngest of which seems to be part wolverine): so many with big promises and positive reviews that end up being a massive disappointment when dismantled before the end of the first evening. This tug toy, however, has outlasted numerous “durable” toys of supposed quadruple-layered firehose materials with infinite stitching on “hidden” seams and sprinkled with fairy dust for god measure. In fact, it’s been about a month and they’ve only managed to rip a few of the stitches while the layers beneath are still holding string. I think we’ve finally found a brand to stand up to our boys!

My two Dutch Shepherds love to tug, unfortunately because of their strong jaws this one was sliced open on the first or second day. I try to take it from them when they are finished tugging, so they can't just chew on it, but it only took a few minutes for my 53 lb female to slice through the fabric to get to the stuffing when I went out of the room for a few minutes. I gave it 3 stars because I still have it and it's more intact than other toys. But my female is a dog that will slice through leashes synthetic or leather in a seconds, if I am not paying attention. Now I use chain leashes only. So, it will depend on your dog as to how long this toy lasts. If you have an aggressive chewer - this toy will last a bit longer than the average toy on the market - but don't expect a miracle unless you monitor them every moment of playing with it. I think for many dogs this might last a lot longer, but if you have dogs with extra powerful jaws, it's likely not going to last long, if you leave it out much and they chew on it. For Tugging it is pretty hardy. But you will need to be vigilant to take it away before they start working on it to try to get to the squeaker and stuffing. Update: A couple of days after I posted this review, my dog destroyed this toy. It did last longer than other toys I've given him, but still only made it about a month.Original review: I ordered this product about a month ago along with some Kong stuffed toys. The Kong toys lasted about 24 hours with my chocolate lab and my pit mix. The Tuffy toy is still going strong, and both of my dogs love it. One of the dogs is constantly picking it up and taking it over to the other when they want to play. Furthermore, my 8 month old pit mix has proven to be a pro at pinpointing the weaknesses in any toy (seams, tags, etc.) and while he did find a seam to pick at on the Tuffy toy, he's been working on it for the full month we've had it and has not broken through to the stuffing (see pics to see where he's been concentrating his efforts). Additionally, this toy was left outside overnight in a rain storm and recovered well enough to be an indoor toy again after some minimal washing and drying. We are extremely pleased with this product. A+++.

it did last a lot longer than any other toy I've bought for them. My lab/pitx destroys every toy in less than 3 minutes. This still has one end and they still play with it. Our black lab and pix go nuts with it.Took about a month before it started getting eaten...of course, the squeakers came out. Then they continued to chew and shred.I will definitely be having Santa Paws deliver some more to them

Had the less tough model (same design) and it lasted a year, which isn't bad. My dog chewed it apart at the seems. Replaced it with this tougher version and it doubled it's life so far but my 40lb shepherd/lab/chow mut doesn't have a super strong bite so it took her some getting used to. It's still a toss up as to which way we'll go when this one needs to be replaced.

This toy has lasted longer than any other that I've tried. It is getting a little worn, but I do provide supervision when my dog plays with it. I trim off any threads that become frayed. It is not indestructible, but it is my dog's favorite toy and mine as well, since it is still going strong after quite a bit of use. I would definitelyrecommend it!

For a big dog! Or a little dog who likes to have a go at a big toy! It's massive and seems very well made.This is Tuffys toughest toy and probably its biggest. My Staffy had a go at trying to destroy it and it came out unscathed.I wouldn't leave your did with this toy or any toy if they like to destroy. This tug toy is excellent for tug of war and could probably last a life time.I left my dog with it for a short while and then removed it before he could work at a small area. ( it would take some time to damage this toy). By removing it - I have a safe toy that I can play tug of war with that will not damage my dogs mouth.If your dog doesn't destroy toys (just bites down, not picks) then you could probably leave them with the toy as it has many layers and is quite tough!It is safer than ropes, tyres and plastics! Also it can wipe down and wash easily.

Excellent tug toy, our sprocker had this thing of ripping every toy (no matter how tough) we got him within minutes. We are new dog owners, so still in the learning process, watched the tuffy video which says to always swop the toy with a chew toy as soon as the dog starts using the soft toys as a chew toy.And that works brilliantly not only that our sprocker loves this toy because we play with him and after a month of quite a lot of play tugging and pulling no damage has been done to it!!!I have also washed it by hand and it's fine, also I didn't realise there is a squeaker in there as well, which makes it very interesting when sprocker gets to tug in that area!!!

This is a good toy and is very durable while interacting with your dog even if your dog, like mine destroys everything (staffy cross) only thing is I made a little mistake of not putting it away after finished tugging with him and he chewed it. Luckily he didnt completly destroy it and it was still usable but if you have a dog that destroys toys do not leave this laying around. Will buy again.

My lively Boxer dog absolutely loved this when he was first given it. He lay for many hours gnawing on it. He has now nearly chewed it in half and removed the squeak from it. However, he still has his mad moments and throws it around the room. It has lasted longer than his other soft toys and there was no messy stuffing to contend with.
