Ni Zan: Colour Plates

It contains some interesting information but, sadly, I is poorly laid out and the print quality is not very good. If the images had been printed to the full page size - instead of squashed into small spaces - there would have been little need for the numerous, meaningless details many of which are not much bigger than the original.It was bought as a reference book to work from - sadly, the images are too badly displayed to allow this. If they had been expanded to fill as much of the page as possible, they would have been useful.It is a good boy of work and if laid out well could be a useful resource.

This publication has real nice reproductions, the colors are very vibrant, but the plates themselves are VERY SMALL! Each painting that is featured has the main work and then sometimes 2 detail sections. There is SOOOOOO much wasted space in the book, it is quite sad. I was hoping it would be full page "landscape" orientation presentations of his works. I was quite disappointed. The book does have a nice bio about the artist tho. Sad because Bierstadt was an AMAZING artist, but there doesn't seem to bee any good books featuring his works. (I am sorry my photos of the book aren't the best, please excuse my fingers)
