A few years ago I installed radiant flooring in my house. In researching the design of the system, I learned about how important it was to have a radiant barrier (reflective surface) and not just fiberglass insulation; especially in the sub-floor. When I saw these had a radiant barrier (the inside is covered with little silver dots) it made sense. You could get away with thinner insulation material while maintaining the same warmth. In practice these underwear preform, heat-wise, the same as somewhat thicker insulated underwear. Where they shine is in wicking moisture away; whereas my thicker insulated underwear had a fleece-like interior which could get damp, these do not. The exterior is superior as well, in that my clothing or shells do not cling to this underwear, but hang more naturally. All around better, more comfortable and keeps the same warmth.

I’m 6’-4” athletic build (240 lbs).and XL fit was as expected. I use them as a base layer for cold winter hiking and mountain biking.
