Q: can i use this in the uk

This is not a dual voltage item. It is 110 V for the USA so in order to use it in the UK, you would need to buy a small transformer to convert power to 220V. These are sold for 25 or 30 dollars. (You must check the watts on the machine and buy a transformer that is at least 20 percent higher than the output of the machine). You'll also probably need to buy an adapter that will allow you to plug the cord from the transformer into the wall. You will need one of these anyway for your cell phone or other small electrics. The plugs in the UK are not standard for the 220V items sold abroad. You can get one of those anywhere travel accessories are sold.

You can get the leather needle so yes

It is but must be ordered for either one or the other. The nameplate indicates the voltage that the machine is configured for.

You’re lucky. Mine won’t run it all backwards or forwards
