Essential Essentials' Radiant LED Desk Lamp is a state-of-the-art design that allows for effortless multifunctional usage. Boasting energy saving LED bulbs with a 25 year lifespan, the Radiant lamp eliminates the need to frequently change your lamp's bulb. The bulbs provide non-flickering natural light, which is easier on your eyes and reduces eye strain while reading, writing, or working. The angle of the Radiant lamp is easily adjustable, allowing for further comfort and customization of your preferred lighting. The Radiant lamp offers 4 different lighting settings with 9 levels of brightness, allowing you the option to personalize your lighting to your exact preferences. The 4 lighting settings, clearly labeled on the lamp stem, are: - Studying - the brightest setting; cool white light - Reading - dimmer than Study setting; cool white light - Relaxing - warm, comfortable light - Sleeping - dimmer than Relax setting; warm, comfortable light To adjust the brightness in any of these settings, just touch the +/- buttons located above the setting options. The Radiant lamp features an Auto-Shut Off timer, which is activated by the Timer button on the bottom of the lamp stem. This way, you can read yourself to sleep or keep the Sleep setting nightlight on without worrying about your lamp being on all night! Another innovation of the Radiant lamp is that it includes a Samsung charging port in the base of the lamp, allowing you to plug in and charge your Samsung device, up to and including the new Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5. It also includes a USB charging port, allowing you to plug in and charge your smartphone, mp3 player, or anything else that plugs in with a USB cable. This way, you never have to be far from your electronics while you're reading, working, or otherwise using your Radiant lamp.

Okay for certain needs—if you shop for the right price on this widely OEM'd lamp.
This review applies to the Essentials 38001 and LAMPAT brand LED touch-controlled desk lamps; they are identical in every respect except for the packaging, manufacturer logo, and sale price. This lamp is slender, which makes it easy to slip between multiple monitors on a crowded desk. Unfortunately, the lamp base is rather large, which isn't good on a crowded desk. However, the large base is sufficiently heavy to make the lamp quite stable, without being ridiculously weighty. The neck stays put but doesn't require much effort to adjust. It would have been nice if the lamp were designed with the option to use a screw-on desk clamp, even if that were an extra-cost item. The lamp doesn't give off a lot of light. Out of the box, it's about equal to a 40-watt incandescent light, perhaps a bit less, and is very directional. It will give good task light to about than a square yard of desk at the highest setting when using the "Relax" color setting, which comes the closest to a "warm white" LED/CFL in color temperature. Although these lamps claim a high color-rendering index, the light quality seems a little off. Compared to a name-brand A19 (standard) LED bulb (such as Sylvania, GE, Philips, or Cree), the light quality just isn't as good as I've come to expect from modern LED lighting. It's more like the store-brand LED lights you saw five years ago.The lamp uses two rows of blue-white LEDs and one row of red-white LEDs, and alters their relative brightness depending on the mode you set.The touch controls are responsive. They offer no tactile feedback, so you have to look at them to use the controls. The controls face forward, so you can't put tall stuff on the unit's large base. The power cord plugs into the back with a barrel connector. The USB charging port seems hit-or-miss. Of two lamps purchased, one port works, the other does not. On the one that works, an iPhone 4S recognizes it and charges fine. The LEDs are not recessed much within the top bar of the light; you'll want to aim them slightly down from your eyeline to avoid glare. If you are using the lamp next to a monitor with a glossy surface, this may make it difficult to find a position where you don't have direct glare or reflected glare. The power cord is average length and terminates in a power brick. The brick is reasonably lightweight (probably a switching power supply) but fairly bulky in shape for its rated output. It's an old-fashioned design that will block multiple outlets on a power strip (horizontal or vertical). A smaller, more plug-sized transformer would be nice, even if it meant giving up the not-so-useful USB charging port. This lamp seems to be OEM'd by a number of vendors. It's worthwhile to shop around on Amazon and compare prices; they vary widely for what is the same lamp. For $20 to $25, it's a decent lamp if you need something slender and directional. However, I wouldn't pay $30 or more for it.

This is exactly what I needed in my life.
This lamp is almost everything I could have requested in a lamp/tool. I did not read the description close enough and it does not charge my Samsung in the dedicated stand, however the USB port works fine. That was my fault. I still love the lamp. It has a sleep timer to turn the lamp off, it has multiple settings- you cannot only pick the type of light (daylight, reading, relax) but the intensity, so a dimmer. It is touch, like a touch phone, no buttons or switches. And of course it is adjustable. I really wanted a lamp that I could charge my phone and tablet, and this is it. It came new, in original packaging.

Great value for the money ...
I purchased another, slightly brighter lamp for more than twice as much. The more expensive lamp was a little bit heavier, and definitely more flexible in being able to orient the lamp face toward the subject matter. But was it twice as good? No.This lamp is a great value for the money. It has variable illumination levels, and color temperatures. Not so many as the more expensive lamp, but sufficient for just about anyone. I'd definitely buy another one if I needed a reading or task lamp.

this is great light, pricepoint great
this is great light, pricepoint great, led brightness, easy controls.. love that it has android phone charger and a usb port for charging ipad, etc.it would be even better if there were 2+ usb charge stations or an adapter to create 3 usb charging ports.does anyone know of a good usb -multiple hub usb charger to create 3 additional usb charging spots (e.g., usb into the lamp and 3 connector spots for other usbs to plug in)?

Love this lamp!
This is the second lamp I purchased. It has multiple LED light settings and within each setting, it has multiple dimmers. The lamp itself can be positioned in a lot of ways. It also has a USB port. I would buy more if I could figure out other places to use it. It would be great as a gift for a college student. I love this lamp!

Sweet little lamp. Pleasing to the eyes. Can always find the power button.
Nice compact lamp. Been looking for a desk lamp like this to replace my old "bankers" lamp. Would be nice if I could run it from usb on my computer though. Also a wireless charger for my phone. The power button is nice because it is illuminated red when off. Makes it really easy to find in the dark. The modes of illumination are great presets then adjust from there if you want.Super cool.

Happy to Recommend
First Impression is very professional looking and the settings of lighting is great. I have tried a 2 or the 3 types of light setting options... Studying, Reading, and Relaxing (?). I have used Study and Reading with slight adjustment in brightness of higher or lower depending on in room lighting. I was so happy with its look and performance that I bought another!

making it even more versatile if you are looking for super bright studying light
This LED lamp works wonders - being the cheapest of all the LED lamps available, it definitely performs just as well as the other higher-end led lamps and is just as versatile as them as well. There are four lighting modes that suitable for your current lighting mood, but it also provides a setting to dim or brighten that chosen lighting mode, making it even more versatile if you are looking for super bright studying light, or a very dim relaxing yellow light. The plastic material feels durable and reliable if you plan on moving around, yet serves the lighting capability of a larger lamp.I highly recommend this product for the economic price tag it comes with.
