Allen & Heath ZED6FX, with guitar DI high impedance inputs (AH-ZED6FX)

Most of the mixers in this price class, regardless of how many I/O's they advertise, only let you record 2 tracks. If you want separate tracks in your DAW (I use Reaper), you'll only get 2 with most mixers. This unit lets you record 4 separate tracks, which is a great feature. I bought this mixer to replace a Behringer QX1202USB. That unit has 12 inputs but only records 2 tracks. The ZEDi-10 has 10 inputs but you can record 4 tracks. Of course, it's at least $100 more. The quality of the ZEDi-10FX was noticeably better than the Behr.The ZEDi-10FX didn't work out for me as I'm a drummer and I needed to record 5 or 6 tracks simultaneously, just for my drums, and add at least 2 more tracks for guitar, bass & vocals. I ended up buying a Tascam US-2000 audio interface instead, which gives me 8 XLR ins, 6 line ins and a pair of stereo ins. The Tascam has no effects, but that's all done in the DAW. I found both Behr & ZEDi mixers confusing to figure out with their profusion of buttons and knobs. The audio interface, for me anyway, was just so much easier to work with.

I purchased this a couple of years ago and I have neve had a complaint. Firstly, the build quality is magnificent. Very solid and delivers excellent, noiseless sound. Sure the price tag was hefty but this is a high quality device. I have tried a couple of the 'other brands' in a similar price point and I can only say that I was underwhelmed with them. This unit is quiet, full of great effect settings and feature. I particularly like the power supply is built in and only requires the cord. This is the first Allen & Heath that I have owned and can honestly say that I would not bother with any other brand again.

Allen&heath es garantía, tengo 6 años con una ZED14FX que me ha funcionado de maravilla y ahora quería algo mas chico para un número solista. Es compacta, ligera, el sonido es estupendo, cero ruido. Las entradas de guitarra DI de alta impedancia son una excelente adición. Los efectos muy buenos y trae una buena variedad para elegir. Trae phantom para micrófono de condensador.Lo que no la hace 5 estrellas: no tiene entrada USB, no tiene entrada RCA, los canales sólo tienen agudos y graves y no medios, Igual está hermosa y me encanta. Cumple a la perfección con la función para lo que la quiero.

I had to give it a try. I am pleased I can do almost everything by touch.Sounds good.Feels sturdy.Familiar mixer layout.Easy to understand manual and controls.Like the form; even though it is kind of large compared to my old BerangerThe case design makes it easy to move.Don’t have enough experience to say how the knobs and sliders compare to other mixer/audio interfaces. They feel solid and smooth enough.No wiggle in the jacks.Very quiet overall.I think it’s a keeper.
