Large Professional Microwave Kiln Kit 10 Piece Set

Good deal useful bits with it.

This microwave kiln does not melt ANYTHING, no matter how long you leave it in. I thought it could possibly be my microwave, so got another one, 1200 watts... still didn't work. I tried it for up to 20 minutes and although the outside of the kiln got hot, it melted nothing. I used both COE 90, and then tried COE 96... no melt took place at all. The kiln is absolute junk, I would return it but do not have the original packaging

Very disappointed in this kit. The confetti you receive is NOT distinct shapes as shown in the picture, and the millefiori and "frit" are of poor quality (unevenly cut, rough/unpolished edges). I was willing to look past those shortcomings until I attempted to fire my first few pieces.Right away I saw that the coating of the kiln lid was thicker in some places than in others, but I decided to try a firing to see if it would make a difference. I fired three pieces together at 60-70% power (my MW is 1200 W). Sadly, the firing was quite uneven. Two reached a full fuse, but the other was only a partial fuse.I was hoping that this would tide me over until I could get a full-size kiln, but after seeing the inconsistent firing of this disappointment, I'll be sticking to my smaller Fuseworks kilns in the meantime.

The kiln itself was advertised. Coming from academia and labs with hot/cold issues, the gloves are a little on the thin side. Better than picking hot glass up with oven glove but not as thick as the commercially available from any scientific organization. Also, the glass that comes with the kit is fairly skimpy. There are some beautiful thin glass overlays for productd and the pattern round glass is pretty, but, it won;t go far. I've got more loads more glass in my scrap pile than comes with the starter kit. Big microwave kiln awesome! Just the extras were not useful to my plans on making jewelry.

Simply does not work. No matter how long you microwave it never gets hot enough to melt the glass provided.

It did not come with any instructions so I had to experiment to figure it out. By the time I figured it out, I had wasted most of the glass. The odors it produces are noxious. I have been opening a door to create ventilation. Otherwise, its a nifty unit and fun to have.

The high reviews here influenced me to purchase this product. However, the one I received does not properly fuse glass whatsoever! It over-fuses and under-fuses on the same piece, making it totally unacceptable for producing quality work. I made a number of tries with no success!!! I have successful used smaller kilns and was simply looking for a larger unit. What a huge disappointment!!!
