Thomas BatesHiker Belt Nylon Blend Outdoor Web Adjustable Buckle

I bought four of these belts in 2014. The material was military robust, the buckles very secure, and even with my bulging waist, they were up to the task. I broke the khaki buckle, my fault, and ordered a replacement two weeks ago. OMG, what a difference three years makes. If you take one of my original belts and try to fold it, edge to edge, there's a high amount of resistance. The new one? Folded up like a Christmas ribbon!!! The new one is not even half the thickness of the original, it's much darker than the original khaki, and it has lost the battles, and the war, against my waist. Might be made in America, as were the originals, but this one just isn't worth the money. A lesson to Thomas Bates: NEVER sacrifice quality to price when it comes to clothing articles like this. I'm sending this one back and won't buy any more, that's for sure. Damn shame. Oh, and as many others have noted, don't buy this if your waist is more than 40". There's no room left for adjustment at that size.

I was looking for a replacement to my leather belts that would allow more adjustability, but the webbing on this belt proved to be too thin (about 0.09 in) and too narrow (1-1/4 in). The thinness of the material caused it to wrinkle and bunch up in the back, instead of lying flat. The buckle mechanism did work well, but it's made from plastic and I wondered how long it would last. In the end, I replaced it with a heavier web belt (1-1/2 in wide x 0.12 in thick) with a metal buckle that was more like a leather belt in terms of size and durability, but still provided the adjustability I wanted.

I was surprised to read some of the other reviews about this product. I purchased this item in 2015 and have used it almost every day. In addition to customary use, I rely on this belt to secure a weapon on the firing range, hold my phone during exercise and hold various items while boating, camping or hiking. I’ve never had a problem with it. The webbing is thick and continues to be stiff. The buckle has never released on its own. The edge of the belt is still sealed without any signs of fraying. Commenting on the 2015 version, this is great USA quality.

You can cut this to size if it is too long. The clasp works great and if your waist size is expanding somewhat this belt won't make you feel guilty as it has no notches to let you know your getting fatter. Really helps my state of denial.

I bought 2 of these belts for hiking/backpacking, I would generally use them 2-3 times a week at the most. The buckle on one of them broke after using them maybe 3 times, I have tried contacting Amazon & the manufacture about their defective product with no responses from anyone. I finally gave up & chalked it up as a lost. The belt material is actually very good, but the buckle is worthless. If these belts spark you interest please look at other belts as there is definitely better belts out there.

If this is the kind of belt you want, I think it is perfect. It is tough and seems like it will be extremely durable despite being a lighter thickness and weight that makes it easy to use and wear. It's nice looking, its width is narrow enough to fit easily in nearly any belt loop width, and the buckle is easy to use and holds tight (just lift the end on the left up to 90 degrees with it on--it may stick a little the first time you open it). Plus it's a very good price. Just a couple comments: (1) the color in the picture on Amazon isn't accurate--I bought navy and it was a true navy blue color (which I wanted), but the photo is a much lighter blue. (2) After cutting it to size (I just laid it beside a belt that fit correctly to get the right spot to cut it), when you apply the match (or lighter flame) to seal the end, don't overdo it--a quick sealing is all that's needed. Err on the light side. After my first one, I've ordered two more.

I bought this belt last year, and while I initially liked it, after about 2 months the fragile plastic "hinges" broke and the buckle can no longer tighten. I wore it no more than ten times. The belt is now useless. I feel like I wasted my hard earned money.So back to the drawing board, still in search of a durable, good looking fashionable nylon belt.

This is my second TB hiker belt to replace the first that I broke the buckle on (I stepped on it accidentally when it was open and broke the clasp off). Used the belt for years. Originally, it was just for occasional use when traveling or with casual clothing. It ended up becoming a daily wear because of how adjustable it is and how comfortable it is.When traveling this thing has been key! All the darn metal detectors that require us to disrobe are such a pain and with these belts you can just keep on truckin' along. Combine this with a nice pair of slip-on shoes and you are golden!Great product, highly recommended!

It works - the gates don't beep at me anymore! Quality seems OK. Clasp doesn't look like it's gonna break anytime soon. I would like it a bit thicker and shorter but I'm skinny as... I would recommend this product to everyone who has to deal with metal detectors or who hates heavy belts.

I think the dimensions must be US inches, not UK inches which makes this belt undersized for me as I needed every inch that was quoted in the size guide.

Just what I wanted my metal belts had started to give me a rash on my belly. Now the rash is gone so I would highly recommend this belt. The clasp is great easy to open and really grips and holds the fabric belt.

Great belt for Hubby who was fed up having to take his belt off every day while going through securityat Heathrow on his way to work. With this plastic belt bukkle no problem. quick delivery and veryeasy to cut to required size.

Good product. I have now have three of these belts in various colours. My oldest one is 12 months old and still working perfectly
