I've been a loyal Hayward customer for 20+ Years Time to end the relationship.
Brand-Loyal Hayward Customer for 20+ Years - Very Disappointed (with caveats). Multiple Hayward Problems. My C2030 SwimClear has just eaten up (and spit out) upper manifold #3...meaning I've just purchased my 4th CX3030C (including the manifold it came with) since circa mid-2012. In Hayward's defense, this latest manifold made it 15 months before puking it's guts out (the 1st two were less than 1 y/o when they croaked). All 3 manifolds failed in the same basic way - cracks on the top around the embossed branding, separation/cracking of the perimeter seam, and catastrophic damage (caved in/buckled out) on the under side. Needless to say, my ownership of the C2030 SwimClear filter has been far more expensive then I anticipated. Some background:We had a problem-free Pentair/Hayward Pump/Cartridge Filter combo for 12+ years. It's performance was great, however, it'd become quite noisy in it's old age and that's what ultimately led us down this rather costly road (necessitated by the exterior wall it shared with one of our light-sleeping children).Pool guy did the numbers and said we'd be fine with the C2030 SwimClear Filter and a Hayward 3/4 hp Max Flow II pump (we have a tiny pool that sees very limited use). We ultimately went with the suggested Hayward filter/pump combo. We diligently checked the filter pressure during the 1st few months of ownership and disassembled it for cleaning once the pressure level had increased 5% over the initial install levels (still just low 20's). This was my 1st encounter with an upper manifold failure (the pool had been used maybe 2x during that span and a Polaris 280 with a silt bag was running whenever the main pump was in use). Oh well...Approximately 2 months after the 1st manifold failed, our new Hayward Max Flow II pump also died (less than a y/o). We purchased another Hayward Max Flow II pump, however, this time we stepped up to the 1hp model. The 2nd upper manifold failed + the 2nd Max Flow II pump died under a year later...within days of one another. I purchased another CX3030C replacement manifold, however, I went with a different brand pump (Pentair 1 1/2 hp). I was mindful of what the increased pump HP might due to my filter, so I set reminders for filter checks every 6 weeks and this is ultimately where I am now (albeit several months down the road)....because you know...the manifold failed again. I'd seen no increase in pressure leading up to this failure (leading me to belief my pressure valve might not be holding up it's end of the bargain). I also discovered that my filter cartridges were cracked this time around...necessitating replacement. .So here I am...having just purchased this unit's fourth upper manifold, 4 new cartridges, and a new manual relief valve/pressure gauge assembly. But wait, that's not all...I also found that the metal reinforced filter seal/O-Ring was deformed AF - so I had to purchase a new one of those....and wait for it....I saw something else when the filter was disassembled to give me reason for concern - the filter housing clamp assembly (DEX2421J) appears to be corroding quite rapidly. The paint has bubbled off in several sections, exposing surface corrosion on the actual clamp. It looks like there's also a fair amount of corrosion underneath the paint on the inside of the clamp as well. This has left me with very little confidence in the shelf life of this clamp....so do I play roulette with the filter and wait to see who's standing beside it when it fails...or do I spend over $200 on yet another replacement part from Hayward?Either way - I'm not a happy camper.

Disappointing that the first one collapsed from the pressure of dirty filters, but it fit perfect and I will monitor pressure more closely in future.
