Incredibly Disappointed, where's the creme?
I wanted so badly to love this machine, but incredibly disappointed with it. I've had a DeLonghi EC702 espresso machine for 9 years. My wife and I use it twice daily, sometimes more if we're having guests over. The EC702 never has had issues with creme and making a good cup. We decided to treat ourselves and upgrade to this compact and nice looking machine, the Dedica Deluxe EC685W. We were excited when it came fast and set it up right away. I went through the normal setup process, ran 2 tanks of water through like the instructions say. Right away I was troubled by leaking. Due to what appears to be a design flaw, putting water in the tank causing it to leak a little bit and create a puddle under the back. It happened 2 days in a row. It stopped after a few seconds, but other reviews will show you it can get worse over time. My biggest concern was the quality of extraction. You can see in my picture by comparison, a fresh extraction from identical beans, compared to a 9 years old EC702, this newer machine truly falls short. I'm not a coffee snob, but even I could see the creme on the old machine (in the little bowl) versus what was just gotten from the Dedica Deluxe is very different. This was identical beans and espresso grind, the Dedica Deluxe can't create anything. To those who don't know, creme is indicative to how good the machine is doing at extracting from the beans. An old machine should not do so much better than a brand new (and more expensive) espresso maker. I tried many different thing, different grinds, light versus dark coffee, nothing mattered, the Dedica may look nice but can't produce a quality drink compared to even an older machine. I wanted so badly to love this machine, but will unfortunately be returning it. Read the reviews around here, and know the ones that talk about leaking and creme issues are the most accurate and to look for a different machine.

Nice little machine
I searched for a small espresso machine for a long time. I finally purchased this one when the price was lower. I like it makes nice espresso latte. It takes little countertop space (selling point for me).

Works great, until it does not.
I really like the narrow form-factor, and the frother works great. This is the second unit. On the first unit, the master power switch sticks right out of the box. I had the same problem with the unit, but I decided to leave it in the ON position and keep it anyway. But now, the double-shot button times out after a few seconds. Single-shot seems to work fine, but that is inconvenient, and I am concerned that it could quit working as well. It is out of the 90-day Amazon return period. Bummed.UPDATE: I restored the defaults, and the double-shot timer started working properly. I am going to keep it, but it is definitely a glitchy product.

Totally great machine
I am super happy with this machine. I hope it lasts and if it doesn’t I’ll buy it again. It makes great lattes, nice foam and it is a good quality machine. I totally recommend. Love it.
