Koken makes tool truck Quality tools at an affordable price. The fit and finish is spot on.

Extremely high quality. Very compact design. Very little backlash in ratchet and square drive to socket. Possibly the best available.A few caveats:Opposite lever position for tighten/loosen than the typical high quality American tool truck brands.Various skipped sizes in the set AND no 9mm or 20mm available in this series. Both those sizes show substantial use in my Snap-On stuff that I've used for 40 years but perhaps not used on modern Japanese cars. That more complete set is in a different box as a backup so we will see if it gets used.

Size is small and easy to use without worrying about sockets being to big. Quality is top notch. Spend money once on quality and have smiles later.

The fit is amazing. I already purchased the deep set and extension set. Watch out for fakes. This set however is authentic and flawless. I build supercharged v8's for one of the big 3 in Michigan and have become picky when it comes to quality tools. Homerun.

Good tool kit albeit expensive. It's nice to have a set of shallow sockets. Ratchet? Meh. Go with gearwrench and save $$.

This is an excellent ratchet set. I love the extreme low drag on the ratchet even though this comes with a spinner. Top quality in these tools.

I have used Koken tools for about 30 years. I have only ever broken one tool in all that time. They are impressive quality professional tools that make an excellent alternative to Snap-On for much less. They are made in one factory in Japan and have excellent consistency. This set is from Koken's premium Z series which utilises enhanced tolerances and ultra compact sockets which range from 5.5-22mm. The compact sockets are designed for use in tight spaces. I already have Z ratchets and found them to be very robust and reliable. The fit is tight so tools don't wobble. This jewel like set feels lovely in the hand. It is already one of my favourite Koken products. It comes at a very attractive price direct from Japan. Highly recommended.

The set is beautiful to look at and handle but the Koken ratcheting mechanism is the real gem. I honestly didn’t realize how much back drag my old Craftsman and Mastercraft (Canada) ratchets had until I used this, nor did I realize how beneficial this lightness is in use. The sockets are nicely finished and fit to high tolerances, they are quite short and stubby which may prove to be a benefit, time will tell. My only real complaint would be the skipped sizing and the fact that a 9mm zeal socket isn’t available at all.I was originally planning to buy the ratchet on its own and a set of nut grip sockets but this nearly complete package in the foam holder worked for me.I’ve built a wooden tray around this to hold additional adapters, extensions, etc. I like the way this looks more than Kaizan foam and it works better for me.You can’t go wrong with Koken.
