DK Knowledge Encyclopedia Space!: The Universe as You've Never Seen it Before

This book is spectacular. I read it to both my boys (aged 6 and 5) every night, and there isn't a day we don't learn something new. I was specifically looking for a space book that was published in the last few years that was up to date with contemporary space exploration. It's worth noting that the last 10% of the book is filled with star charts and astronomy, while the rest slowly makes it's way through our solar system in excellent detail. The photos and diagrams, and overall visual approach is just the right thing for young kids.

Outstanding book full of large, clear illustrations, photos, cutaways, charts, various visualizations and text of course. It covers the solar system and orbits, then the specific planets, moving on to talk about moons, asteroids, comets, nebulae, space rovers, rockets, stations, astronauts and their equipment and other things. It's absolutely packed full of interesting information. I didn't know that I knew so little about space. Great for an adult new to the subject like me, and I'm sure kids would like it too. It's accessible, but not written in child-like manner.

My only complaint about this marvellous book is that I can't give it more stars ! this book will cover most childrens and adults interests and questions on this fascinating subject.

Great for learning about our universe. If your looking for a starter into the world of endless space and physics; buy this book. And eventually, after reading, move onto the DK: Universe book. Its a great starter book!Brilliant Computer Generated diagrams and images of space and the planets!

Bought this as a present for a 8 year old child because apparently its not OK to just send Children a link to Wikipedia for their birthday...To be fair he did love it and apparently has spent a lot of time reading it. The book does look very engaging and was only £5 when I bought it which is an absolute bargain.
