Give old lenses new life
I bought this adaptor after picking up an old Vivitar 450/SLD with a Rokunar 28mm f/2.8 lens, and I wanted to try the lens on my 30D. After much research, I found out that the adaptors without an aperture stop down rim are the ones to buy because the rim can cause problems with some lenses and can be a real bother if you want to focus with an open aperture. This adaptor is such a device, and is built great as well, being made of a nice heavy brass. I've since picked up some more M42 lenses, such as a few Pentax Takumars, and they are some of the sharpest lenses I have now. You can get a nice set of fast, sharp primes for much less than buying the current Canon or third party lenses. Other mount adaptors are also available if you check around, I have a Pentax K, and might pick up an Olympus. It really opens up a new world of razor sharp awesomeness.

Very well made.
I bought a Bower adapter and a fotodiox to see which adapter was better. Hands down the bower is a much better product. The weight and build quality are superior. The only thing i found is that once i put the adapter on the lens and put on the camera I see absolutely no difference between adapters. The image quality is the same. The way i see it, if your going to buy one adapter to switch between lenses buy this one. If your going to buy and adapter for each lens buy the fotodiox.

Warning, Product Photo isn't Accurate
WARNING: when mounting m42 lenses with an aperture lever (such as on the Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 50mm f/1.4), adaptors such as this which have a rim scrape up against the lever and prevent changing the aperture while the lens is mounted. The photo shows a *rimless* adaptor, which doesn't have this problem. However the adaptor I received has rim and looks essentially the same as the Fotodiox Chrome Lens m42 -> EOS adaptor (also available on Amazon). The adaptor itself is of nice quality, but it only works with lenses that don't have an aperture lever. T. I wish the seller would update the photograph.

Peftect allignment for M42 on my 7D
There's several M43 to EF adapters available, some with mixed reviews, but this one is the one you need. It aligns the lens perfectly on the body so that the aperture indicator is right on top where you can see it. Pictures are clear and in focus, no vignette, and the adapter seems to be machined rather than cast so it should be very durable. It has nice serrations around the perimeter so it's easy to get a grip on it.

Works exceptionally well, had to be modified for my lens
Great product, but I had to modify it to fit my SMC Takumar 50mm lens. The inner-ring was too tight, and pushed against the aperture arm of the lens.... however, after filing away at this part of the adapter, the lens fits perfectly!
