Little Book of Lettering

I ordered this book soon after discovering the work of the lettering artist behind the cover. Mary Kate McDevitt's work is also featured within this book, but it's so much more than a single artist or designer. Despite its size, the "Little Book of Lettering" isn't actually so little. It's hardbound with quality materials, and each page features a different person's work.Even better, the quality of selections included in this book is quite diverse, and even features some superstars whose work you may have seen (especially if you're a designer). You can tell the collection was curated by someone who truly appreciates the art of lettering.For any designer, this is a must-have book.For any non-designers, you'll definitely enjoy the creative talent contained within!

If you have a friend who's into all of those lettering Instagram accounts, then you found yourself a solid birthday/christmas/house warming gift. Perfect coffee table book for that basic, I mean, artsy girl in your life. It's small, too, so she can throw it in a box and forget about it after the trend dies down. Content wise, don't expect an encyclopedia. It's more of a skim through and look at the pictures kind of book. Regardless, she will appreciate how creative you were for googling "lettering book."

When I bought this book, the description (which it appears may have since been changed) gave me the impression that this would give at least some instruction or information on how to do your own lettering. What it is instead, is a collection of samples of various artists' work, with some very basic description of their methods, inspiration etc. If you're looking for inspiration, and pretty pictures, this is great. If you're looking for a book to assist on developing your own writing, this falls short.

This was smaller than I expected (7"x7",) I rarely look at dimensions, so really that was my fault. It seemed like they tried to fit too much into too little a space, with individual designers getting one or two pages of work shown. It's a great source for inspiration, and serves as a great gateway into seeing more from each of the featured designers. Ultimately, I like the book, but with everything so cramped I'm a little turned off.

The book includes hundreds of beautiful and fun letters.Creativity abounds. I gave it only 4 stars because I waslooking for a "how to" book. That's what happens whenthe buyer can't see into the book, and I couldn't tell fromthe title.

This book is chock-full of inspiration from current designers who are driving the resurgence of lettering! It is broken down into three sections: digital, hand, 3-d.This is a great book that will inspire you to get some paper out and start lettering!

This book has been a delight. There is so much inspiration in it's pages, then it has a whole section devoted to inspiring you and giving you the space to do so. I enjoy the prompts and the visual inspiration, just be prepared to spend a lot of time with this one.

Such a beautiful book! I bought it as a Birthday gift for a friend who is a graphic designer. It was so darling and interesting I almost couldn't give it away, Ha! I love how it shows the lettering and the story of the artist behind it. It only makes sense that a book about lettering would be a work of art :)

Nice book, solid cover, nice lettering examples. It was a gift and it has been very appreciated. Suggested to everyone that want to keep this book on their shelf as reference book. Good when you need inspiration, as starting point . Overall I give it 5 stars because I think the price and the quality of the book, the printing and the description are 5 stars.

Arrived OKwithin time specified and well packed. Contents good for a typophile like me but far from Caslon and Baskerville when it comes to a real job

An attractive little book on an attractive subject.

Love this.

Small is beautiful. I expected a bigger book but it is very cool anyway...I love the designs and the display of the themes. If you are into lettering and you want to make a try this is a nice item to have as starting point
