Very Best of

I'm ALWAYS leery of ordering CD's that are remakes of original recordings of many years prior. But I love Ray Charles style and genius. So I took a chance and ordered this CD. The CDs themselves worried me as they had faint white discolorations on the edge. I do not know if this is a signature mark or what? However, these marks did not have any impact on the playing of the CDs or the sound quality. About the sound quality......WOW!!! is all I can say. Very clean, and it sounds like he is right there in the room with you. I don't know how they got his original music onto CDs today that sound, well......Perfect! My ONLY disappointment is the CDs did not include "Unchain My Heart!" But, I already knew this before I ordered these. I will now order a different CD that has this on it.

Ray Charles was iconic. He excelled in a society that made it difficult for a Black American to meet or exceed his potential. Mr Charles crossed many cultural barriers by using gospel, blues, country, classical and various musical ideate idioms to express his inner self and the heart beat of our great Nation. "The Very Best of Ray Charles" exemplifies the man, the music and the Nation. It is an enjoyable musical excursion.

This album contains a large number of songs on two discs, many of which were unfamiliar to me. That isn't a bad thing, just indicates that I was not as familiar with the music of Ray Charles as I might have thought. The sound is good, and I don't think any of these were re-recordings.

I like that the first three songs on the CD, I will cherish this CD.

The title of this CD is misleading since even with 50 titles it does not include "You Don't Know Me" which was a hit for Ray Charles and went to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. This is a great CD set but this omission is glaring and should be noted.

Has the good ones, but of course had to throw in ones that definitely Don't belong on his 'Very Best'.The single disk 'The Best Of Ray Charles' doesn't have all the lesser 'thrown-ins' on it - Much better.

Excellent CD if you’re a Ray Charles fan!

Can't get enough of Ray Charles fantastic recording felt like he was in my front room,would recommend this CD, it really captures every note very good recording.
