Glo 14-Watt Sun-Glo Fluorescent Bulb, 15-Inch, A1589

i have a 26gal. hex tank and my hood light is 15'' 14w.the light ''housing/shroud'' places the tube itself over center of tank.the tube was to bright but i like the sunshine effect w/my sand bottom and also for my live plants.1 thing you can do that i did is this,cut some narrow strips of aluminum foil and slightly cover the area of glass the light shines thru at shroud.my strips were about 1'' wide and sit in the place that takes away the direct light of about 1/2 of the tube creating a slight, shaded area at front of my tank.the fish can now move out of direct/bright light and it still has plenty of light(direct and indirect)for plants,etc.i have had no issues w/excess heat using the strips but you may want to check yours for any over heating,if you try this.if/when this tube goes bad,i'll not buy another but will try a softer aqua-glo type.however,this light is okay for me,i have very little complaints.

If you want to go the route of Sun-Glo for healthier fish this is the one to get. Natural sunlight flavor and great life, been running for two years now with no issues, and for a fluorescent light it is very quiet, no hum whatsoever.

I couldn't find a replacement bulb for my aquarium light anywhere - this did the trick. It has been working everyday for 6 months or so now.

the light looks good and light the tank up

Bulb was rattling inside upon receipt, surprisingly worked initially, but only for 2 days, then would not light. The seller was quick to respond and refund me.
