This is another of the stoneware "Spirit Animals" that I create from clay. The gentle spirit of this creature was inspired by the canines that live in our world, whether it's the dog, the wolf, coyote, or others. The surface is very smooth with no glaze, the patterning the result of a firing process involving smoke to get the rich blacks. It is hand-built, measuring about 13″ long by 10″ high. The surface is waxed to a slight sheen.
