I purchased this book to use as a reference when I installed a mini bog in my yard. Carnivorous Plants is full of valuable helpful information.

Detailed and great reference!

Carnivorous plants are hard to grow. I've tried in the past with limited success. Based on the reviews I am hoping that this book changes that.

The book will be a great reference guide for years to come.

Bought this book after my wife came home from the loca garden centre with 3 small plants a pitcher plant, a Venus flytrap and a sun dew, what a fantastic book, it’s now turned an impulse buy at the checkout into a serious hobby, it covers all aspects of propagation and repotting, and once you know how you enter a fascinating world of some of the oldest plant species to be found, and it’s SO EASY, EVEN I CAN MANAGE TO DO IT , we now have a beautiful collection that fascinates everyone who sees it, oh and NO FLIES IN THE HOUSE

I was very pleased with this, at last another book written by an author living in Britain so that temperatures and products recommended are relevant to growing here. Some carnivorous plant books by other author's are equally worth buying but at least you don't have to keep working out what can and can't be kept with or without a heated greenhouse. It would be great to have a 2nd volume covering some of the species that there wasn't room to fit in, or am I just being greedy?

I bought this for my husband as a gift and reference book. He is a novice and has bought several plants from Nigel, and as well as his personal advice on each my husband has been able to obtain all the information he has needed from this book. It is expert information but it is written in a very readable fashion. Excellent purchase.

The book is very well illustrated with many photos and is packed with cultural information about a wide range of carnivorous plants. This is the best book I have seen on this subject, therefore I recommend it.

I loved this book. It's wonderfully written and very informative. The pictures are also beautiful. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is thinking of growing carnivorous plants, or even if you just have a passing interest and want to learn more about these fascinating life forms. There are many misconceptions about the cultivation of these plants so its really nice to have a book like this that clearly describes the techniques the author has used to successfully cultivate these plants for many years.
