Skipped over this book many times before buying it
I LOVE every book Ive read from Nora Roberts vast library of murder mystery/romance. However when I read the summary to this book I avoided it. Im not even certain as to why. To me the summary failed to pike my interest enough for me to purchase it. Over and over again I would choose something different. Finally I gave up and purchased it, believing that the book itself would win me over. Boy did it! It took no time at all to draw me in to the intrigue of this book. It won me over with its mystery, tender emotions, and horrible deceit. The characters were believable; so much so that I could picture each one in my mind. The way each of them looked, spoke, and felt emotion. I'm sure every Nora Roberts fan has their own list of favorites. To me Birthright comes in a VERY close second to my favorite, The Witness. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone in question. It will make you appreciate the familial bonds that have such a hold on most of us, and make you anticipate, as I do, the next Nora Roberts novel to hit the market.

Who are we when what we know is a lie?
I absolutely LOVED this book. The archeology storyline was interesting and exciting. The mystery of the kidnapping/adoption was very well written. And the characters were so well developed that I missed them when the book ended. Most of all, as an adopted person who has met a biological sibling, I loved the time Nora takes in exploring these biological connections. And I’m doing so, asks the question: who are we when what we know is a lie? Who is family? What makes family? Blood? History? Love?Excellent book. One of my favorites.

I love reading about a heroine who is an archaeologist or science nerd. This started out great because of the sparks between her & her sexy, charismatic ex-husband and the archaeological background. But then it comes to light why she divorced him in the first place. For some reason, the supposedly strong, no holds barred heroine finally accepts her ex's excuses & her friend's justifications that he's just naturally affectionate and handsy with other women. To the very end, her ex sees nothing wrong with flirting & touching other women. He assures her that she's the only one & it means nothing to him. HA! And the heroine accepts it & sees it his way. Grrrrrr...! A man or woman putting hands around and/or pressing a hand on the lower back while firting or being over friendly, is a sign of sexual possessiveness. No wonder so many women hated the heroine, saw his flirting & touchy feely ways as a green light to ignore her & seduce him, while they were married & after when they met up again. What a disappointment, since this is well written, with a great murder mystery.

Always great 👍
I've been in love with Nora Robert's stories for years. Her storytelling has always been able to transport me somewhere else. Doesn't matter which name the story is under. There's always grace in her female characters. Along with intelligence, courage, stubbornness and sometimes snarkiness. I love when multiple female characters in the same book have these characteristics. Her male characters are just as realistic. From the main characters to the support characters you just can't go wrong with a book by Nora! This is a good long book. It has romance, mystery, family, happiness, sadness and anger. Gives entertainment, pulling you into the story . If you're looking for a great story, this is it.

My two favorite things: Mystery AND Anthropology!
This is one of those books I wish some Hollywood producer would read and think; "Man, this would make a great movie! " This book has it all; mystery, danger, romance, and characters that are fully fleshed and multi-layered. Renowned archeologist Dr. Callie Dunbrook is used to digging into the past for answers, but suddenly it is her own past she must explore in a desperate search for the truth of her real identity. As she painstakingly uncovers her past the danger grows even more deadly, and close enough to make her wonder who she can trust. I loved this book, and recommend it for anyone looking for a fast-paced read. Oh yes, as someone who studied Anthropology and Archeology in college the details are spot on!

Never gets old
I read this book long ago before I had Kindle or audible. I loved it then. The mystery, the attention to detail as Nora Roberts takes us through the intricacies of excavation, and what drives anthropologists - there’s a sentence one wouldn’t expect to see in a romance novel review. But this was a romance, and quite a love story. It was even better the second time around.

Compelling
Birthright is a complex mystery and a wonderful romance. I was not drawn to Nora Roberts early books but once I found one that fit me, every book has drawn me in and held me to the end. Birthright starts well and gains momentum as it goes until a breath-taking ending that was more than I was expecting. Excellent.

Riveting. Nora Roberts puts together great stories.
I loved this story and it's characters. It is hard to put them away and say goodbye. Callie, a brilliant young archaeologist is called to a new job site. However, just as soon as she begins to unearth the dead from the Neolithic site, havoc related to the site and to her own life begins. As well, she uncovers living persons unexpectedly connected to her own life. It seems that the dig and her life are unraveling at the same time and she must cope with her ex-husband who has also been hired for the dig. After first finding out that she is not who she thought she was but has a whole other family she does not know, she encounters one scary threat after another to her own life, to the success of the dig, to the lives of co-workers, her lawyer, and both of her families. How will all this end?

Excellent story!
This was my first Nora Roberts read and I really enjoyed it. It was obvious that Roberts had done a lot of research on the subject matter which came across well in her writing. I loved the characters and the two separate romantic story arcs that were happening throughout the book. The backstory and then the ensuing mystery were really interesting and kept me wanting more of the book until It was finished. I will definitely be looking for more books by Nora Roberts.

Excellent - Nora Roberts at her usual absolute best!
I love all Nora Roberts books including the J D Robb ones. She is the consulate storyteller. I love all her characters and hate to leave them when the book comes to an end. If you have not yet discovered her you have a huge back catalogue to five into and I envy you. I do actually have all her books on my kindle and I read them over and over again. Brilliant!

A pleasant suspense novel
I really enjoyed this book, I like most of her suspense books but I really felt this was one of her best ones. The story was good, the charachters are apealling, the story was plesant. I have to admit, the cover really put my off but I’m glad i bought it anyway. It’s a totally stand alone book so theres none to read before or after. If you like Nora Roberts, this is defintely a book to read. It is a lighter suspense without the gore of someone like Val McDermid and easier reading than someone like Karin Slaughter.

NOT HER BEST
I love Nora Robert's books. She is one of my favourites but I found this book whilst well written as usual, a bit drawn out. I felt it was padded out and found myself skipping pages. Didnt grab me like her usual books.
