Great device!
This is really easy to use - pop the slides into the tray and push the button! The LCD screen is great, and so is the ability to use a flash card - no need for a PC to do the initial capture, which makes thing move right along really quickly. It took only a few hours to process 170 slides. Great clarity on the captures. One thing to watch out for is that the captures are pretty big as far as resolution and size, so compressing these is a must if you're going to be e-mailing these.

One way solution
The machine worked exactly as advertised. I was able to digitize all my old negatives and slides, something I had wanted to do for many years. The instruction booklet was a little sparse in details, but eventually with a little trial and error, I was able to transfer the slides and negatives. At first I found the ability to transfer only three slides or five negatives a little tedious. But, after getting into a routine and using the mounting process as a respite, I was able to transfer the items forthwith. The hardest part was the constant cleaning of the converter screen because my slides were so dirty. Again, this feature wasn't covered very well in the booklet and it took a little trial and error to get it right. I was able to go through 3000 slides and numerous negatives and weed out all the bad ones. Of that, there were many. Again, it worked great!!!!!!

Decent (but not great) slide/negative slide scanner
Decent but low resolution slide/negative scanner.Pros:1. Simple to operate - it's easy for an unskilled user to line up images and press the SCAN button.2. Uses SC Card - Accepts large SD Cards to allow for TONS of scanning before transferring to computer. This is easy and transparent to the user.3. Decent (not great) image quality. The scans are cropped (missing the edges), and they are low resolution. Both of these factors make them less than ideal, but the main expectation you should have is that this scanner will gave you "snapshot" quality and nothing more. If you seek a serious film scan, look for a much higher-end scanner. The main point here is that this slide scanner is decent but not great. If you want to scan a lot of slides or negatives at "decent" quality and call it a day, buy this. If you want archival quality, don't waste your time! Get something far better.

Great product for the price
It is a wonderful product for the price range - easy to use, easy to set up (read the instructions first), and relatively quick. The slow part is finding your negatives which may be difficult, and putting them in the holder, which is easy. It is designed for 35mm negatives or standard slides. It does the job I wanted, which was to inventory my thousands of negatives. I've just begun on that task, and am appreciative of a device I can use with ease. Once I set it for negatives, I only have to open the lid and it is ready to do more of the same. I can add the pictures put on my SD card to my computer and print from there. More importantly, I can search for and find negatives of the significant photos I want to keep. I want to find a place to print high-quality enlargements, from the original negatives, of only the 3 or 4 pictures I'm especially looking for.

Don't waste your money
This is absolutely a piece of junk! The duplicator is easy to use, but the results are horrible. Resolution is very low and there is a blue line on most scanned slides that cannot be removed. I "Photoshopped" slides that I had copied and the results were not good. I could not get rid of noise, even using several "add on" programs associated with Photoshop. I returned this item for a refund before wasting anymore of my time. This is an inexpensive unit and if you're only going to duplicate slides to your computer without making a movie, it might be alright. Don't try to print from the slides because of the low resolution. A better choice for approximately the same price is the Opteka Digital Duplicator.

Difficult to use with very poor, tiny "instruction manual."
All the other reviews are right about the difficulty of opening and closing the negative and slide holders. They are also hard to slide into the machine. The instructions are difficult to read and are incomplete. It would be very easy to lose a batch that you thought you had saved. Of the negatives I have scanned, the quality is marginal. I'm very disappointed with it and would not recommend it. The software isn't compatible with a Mac as indicated in its description. That is not supposed to matter if you save it to a SD card, but knowing that you have it on the card is difficult to determine. I'm tech savvy and have seldom run into such poorly written instructions.

Digitize slides to share with all family members
I bought this to digitize my parents' family slides from many years ago. Once I got the slides on an SD card (you provide your own), I could copy them and send to my siblings who now live in distant states. The VuPoint Solutions Digital Film and Slide Converter works easily and quickly with little hassle. (The tray used to load the slides only holds three slides at a time, so buy additional trays if you have a closet full of slides. Then someone else can load while you push the tray through the Converter.) This worked so quickly that I ran out of slides before I ran out of time. The pictures can be viewed on your computer (via SD converter) and edited.
