Our harvesting strictly adheres to sustainable and ethical best practices ensuring Biosota Manuka honey is some of the rarest in the world with higher amounts of methylglyoxal (MGO) and guaranteed certified 100% organic. Being Australian certified organic we have to follow strict rules. We don’t treat our bees with antibiotics. Methylglyoxal (MGO) is the naturally occurring compound that provides antibacterial qualities and makes Manuka honey so special. The higher the MGO number, the more potent honey is. Q: Is this UMF certified?

Hello. The UMF rating is licenced to the New Zealand Unique Manuka Factor Honey Association, UMFHA, and may only be used on manuka honeys from that cooperative in NZ. The UMF is calculated from the Methy|Glyoxal, MGO content. All other manuka honeys used the Non-Peroxide Activity ,NPA rating, which is also calculated from the MGO in the same way. So effectively NPA is UMF, but not restrictive in who may use it. Interestingly, more and more nations are moving away from any activity based ratings and towards the MGO content only. This will even up the playing field and remove confusion about honey activity. Each batch of our pure Australian Manuka is tested at independent laboratories before packaging to guarantee it contains high levels of NPA, ULF and MGO activity.
