Very secure and easy to put on/take off
The kitties only get to go outside when on a harness. This tiger stripe pattern is the second Kitty Holster for them and it's the only type I trust to keep them safe. Been using these for several years now and have never had one wiggle out, even when they got spooked by something or somebody. It's a bit constraining but both cats tolerate it well.

Important safety tips for a good harness
This is the best cat harness I could find, I bought a smaller mesh one, and he slipped out of it. Cat harnesses need to be long like a glove in my opinion, this has a longer body band and it keeps him in it more snuggly. But if your cat is ever backing up while wearing always ALWAYS loosen it and dont let them back up while in it. I'm sure if you let them do it, they will escape (Its how my boy escaped his previous harnesses and I have learned from this. ). This harness just makes it a bit more difficult. (He is a bit skittish in nature fyi!)But never let them back up with it on! They will pull backwards while facing you and the harness starts to look like a tshirt trying to come off. Immediately relax the leash and secure/calm the cat.As you see my cat loves it. Each cat is different, I tried it on him for hours a day indoors and he didnt move for like two hours but would eventually begrudgingly do things. I realized hes never fully comfortable as he has a ragdollish demeanor, he will relax when held so this harness simulates a tight hug. I just put it on when I take him outside and it only took THREE times of doing it for him to know what it means and to come running to the door when I call his name and jingle the harness. My cat is skittish and really only likes to hang out in the front yard and I wouldnt really call it "walking" but more like him moving slowly from one location to another. But since hes a cat I just let him enjoy the enrichment of being outdoors on a leash. Some cats simply wont like this. Some will be way better and enjoy walking and arent scared of everything. Cats differ widely and are not dogs, or people. Just handle the cat in front of you and make the enrichment that cat specifically would flourish in.His name is Swagzilla.

So far so good
My cat has always been an indoor cat, and gets scared outdoors. However, I will be moving across country and the vet recommended I get her leashed trained. So, after many fails to find a cat harness that fits my 13 lb., 18 inch girth has been a challenge. However, this harness fits her, and it has room to go tighter and looser. I have not yet walked her but the harness training is going, she hasn't fought me when putting this on so that is a plus (believe me I have scars from trying other harnesses). The downside is she is fluffy so it does bunch, but it doesn't appear to hurt the function of the harness. I will keep you updated on the progress.UPDATE: My cat made it across country in the car, and back home on a plane twice. Does she wear this harness, No. It is a great harness and perfect if you do not have a stubborn old cat who has never been leashed or harnessed trained. If she wore this, she refused to jump on the bed or shelf, which is needed to eat or sleep. She basically lays where I put her like a sack of coal when this is on, and if she does move it is in army crawl. Needless to say, I went with my moms Chihuahua dogs halter (which research says is bad, as cats can escape from it), the dogs halter is not the best solution if you have a cat who will try to get out of it, but I have a lazy, 13 year old, stubborn cat, so she will walk normal if she has to but she still thinks I am trying to kill her....so she is carried around in her halter and the dog halter is easier to put on this product because it doesn't need to be velcored underneath.Verdict: This is the best cat harness you can get, they are snug and secure in it. As long as you have a stronger will than your cat and can overrule their stubbornness or you don't have a stubborn cat (if you do not have a stubborn cat then I envy you) then this harness is for you. If your cat is already leashed trained, then this harness is for you.

Worked better than Thundershirt to calm my cat and he was unable to get it off by himself!
I bought this and a Thundershirt for a cross-country move in my car with my cat. I put the thundershirt on him first, and my extremely timid cat, he did the Freeze & Flop right away, and then started moving around after a few minutes, and he got out of that by himself within 10 minutes. The next day I put this harness on him to try that - and after 2 hours he had not gotten out of it. I did then try to put a leash on and he immediately got out of it backwards (easily) I was no way fast enough to let go quick enough to avoid that! However the interesting thing is that this harness created the SAME reaction in my cat as Thundershirt - the "freeze & flop" he just laid down and let me pet him and he purred a lot! I think this can be used in lieu of the Thundershirt so I returned it and kept this one.Note, my cat is 16 pounds (much of which is in his tummy area, and he fit into the Small/Medium just fine as the harness doesn't go that far down his belly to his wider part.

A good, well made harness, just not for my cat and my situation.
I've read a lot of reviews for this cat harness and don't doubt that it would work in most situations. However, with my particular cat, this is a three star harness. My situation: I bought this harness for my cat that bullies my other cat. Normally I keep them separated but I wanted to try giving them more face-to-face time, so my solution was to harness my bully cat so that she couldn't chase/attack my other cat.My cat: I have an overweight, pear-shaped cat and this has caused some fitting concerns for this harness. She has a tiny upper body and a huge lower body--large belly ponch and large hips (do we call them hips if it's for a cat?). Anyway, we measure her food and calculate calories and everything, but she was just one of those cases of a cat that just totally spread out after getting her fixed. So the S/M fit her mid section, but because of how large and strangely proportioned she is, the neck hole was perhaps too large. This allowed her to just barely slip through and escape the harness. Since I attached her harness to a table leg with a leash, she was able to back out of the harness by putting tension on the leash. When I tried to remedy this neck-hole problem by tightening the velcro strap around her neck, it seemed too uncomfortable for her, so I loosened it a bit. This slightly looser neck strap seemed to keep her from escaping at first, but when I left her alone for a few minutes, she tried to escape again, but the strap got caught over her face in the escape attempt. This freaked her out, and if I wasn't there, she might have been injured. In the end, we scrapped the whole process because she required constant attention (since she would escape if we didn't have eyes on her 100% of the time). I think this harness would be fine if you wanted to take a normal shaped cat for a walk or something like that. But for our purposes, and our cat, it didn't really work out. I would not recommend this harness for more than half an hour of wear at a time regardless of cat size either. I think the most important thing is for your cat to be comfortable. I don't doubt that other cats could be content wearing this harness, but our's wasn't.
