Heavy Duty Large Live Animal Cage Trap Model 1112

I ordered this trap to replace a cheaper trap that a large racoon destroyed. I have caught several possums, but not a large racoon yet. I can tell that this trap will be much more durable tan the cheaper one that was destroyed.

It is simple to set up and effective. The carry handle is cheap and broke, was replaced with a handle that can handle the weight. It rusts pretty quickly, could spend a bit more on a primer then paint finish. But as far a simple effectiveness, it works on possum, raccoons and Ferrell cats.

Very sturdy. Also like that all you have to do to release the animal is roll the cage upside down. The first time I used it my bait was taken and the door never closed. After putting some 1/4 inch hardware cloth on the trip plate to stop the critter from stepping through the mesh I got him on the second night. You can also set the trap at the absolute end of L shaped bar that triggers the trap for a more sensitive setting. Very happy with my purchase.

Armored dildoes can power their way out of traps that can hold a racoon. Not this trap. And yet, easy release.

I never leave reviews but I have never been more disappointed in a purchase from Amazon as this one !! Set the trap on the first night and got a racoon, he tore a hole in the side of the trap and escaped. I repaired the hole and reset the trap the following evening, same exact thing only on the opposite side. Began repairing the trap again and realized that the mesh used during construction could be pulled apart with my bare hands, made no sense to try and repair, tossed it in the trash. II cannot believe that Amazon would even sell a product with this low quality !!! Save yourself a headache and look elsewhere.

I liked everything about this trap except it not having a back door to put the food in, (which I already knew), but worse, there's only about 3.5" at best to put a bowl or container of food against the back, where the trip plate will not hit it (hindering operation). If you put a larger dish in there it's sitting on an angle facing the back of the the trap and away from the animal. Poor design in that area.

This is my second one of this brand and model of this trap. The first one lasted nine years and I was always happy with it. I probably trapped over a hundred arodillos before it failed. The current one arrived less than two months ago. It began to rust the first week it was out. Yesterday I trapped my forth armadillo in it. It is now unusable without some major repairs. The results of shipping the manufacturing overseas and degrading the quality of the product.
