Why is this a sequel
I will do bullet points so I wonât rant...-this could have been a stand alone book... not a sequel... and to people saying you canât control what an author writes or we need to grow up and stop wanting âhoodâ stories... itâs not just that. TCWE wasnât just a hood story, it was complex, with complex characters that had substance, a storyline, it was relatable. You can get a $5 hood book from Walmart. TCWE wasnât just that! But also, We spent money so yes as an author you do have a responsibility to give people what they EXPECT (BECAUSE it was called a sequel... if it was a stand alone book then fine). If I spend money on sprite. I want sprite not coke. and if you arenât offering sprite then donât present it as if you are.-maybe Iâm wrong but the fact I pre-ordered this book in November and it wasnât available until March and could no longer be returned feels shady. She knew this book would not be received well and any publishers who read the first book could not have possibly believed this would be received well. im just trying to make sense of it... so in my mind I feel like she made us spend our money months in advance because they knew it wasnât what we expected, everyone bought the book because we were excited, she got her money, became a Best-Seller Author again, and we are sitting here with this book we canât return. (Iâm just in my feelings and coming up with conclusions)-again this could have been a stand alone book but instead she knew we would all come running when we heard a sequel... she went off the coattail of her TCWE to push her religion agenda on us.-the book did make me think, but I was more so confused. It was just a lot of unanswered questions, and things I could just not wrap my mind around or take serious... the âDAT N*GGAâ nickname I just could not wrap my mind around. I laughed every time I read it. The weird disturbing dog, rat, animal stuff made me want to actually close the book and not read it... Winter being more dumb than she was at 16... seeing âdat n*ggaâ in the Mercy possibly going to Heaven (but he was Satanâs son???)... âDat N*ggaâ, Shaytan, and his son inside the covenant but I thought they scanned their bodies to see if they were evil... I thought it was for Nuns... why are the Nuns still in the Last Stop before the Drop? Can you only make it to Heaven if you are a Muslim?... aborted kids can choose to basically be reincarnated to another family... is this religion mixed with fiction and her own interpretation of the religion... I just wish she would have had a character analysis at explanation at the end like she did with the TCWE book. I get what she tried to do at the ending. I get the message she was trying to send. But I just didnât want that. I maybe would have bought the book if it was stand alone. Maybe. But it just should not have been a sequel.I wonât spoil the end but I threw the book across the room when I finished it.

Anticipating #3!
Canât wait to see which direction the storyline takes us. We need a #3 from Winters story. Similar to Midnights story. Can we please bring both storylines back together? Sista Soulja is an exceptional writer!

This book deserves more than one star for effort but giving it 5 stars is a stretch!
Sister Souljah decided to take a page from Nathaniel Hawthorne's Celestial Railroad and John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress with her allegory style of writing for this book. If you have never read either of those two bodies of work, then I can see why you are like WTF while reading this book. If you Google or Wikipedia the synopsis for those two books then a light bulb may pop on, but you would really have to read the books to see the true similarities of how she took the sequel in this direction; however, whereas the other two leaned towards Christianity, this would be the Islamic version. In saying that, Sister Souljah should have thought twice about this as it is not what her core audience and fans of CWE were hoping for. When people watch Real Housewives of Atlanta, they don't watch the show with the hopes of being educated on politics and religion. They watch the show for the messiness and drama that it is. The producers of RHOA realize this and that is why the show has lasted for 14 seasons and counting. This sequel heavily promoted the Islamic faith, her politics on abortion (she's clearly against it), and how she despises the idea that the Christian faith makes Jesus an equal with God. The setting of the story is in Purgatory/Hell. I am in agreement with other reviewers that she should have written this book as a separate book from the series and should not have labeled it a sequel. Her audience's expectations were to get a continuation of the gritty, street style, tales from the hood type plot that made us fall in love with the Santiaga's rise and fall in the drug world, not the underworld!I disagree with those who believe that she had a ghostwriter for the CWE as she has really kept Winter's character true to form even while she attempts to navigate her way through Hell and negotiate with the Devil. I would not have expected Winter's character to have evolved over the years as there is a very high probability that most people who have served a prison stint such as Winter's will reoffend. I am a Criminal Defense attorney; therefore, I am very familiar with this pattern of behavior. Also, Winter was 18 years old when she was arrested and convicted for drug trafficking. She never had the opportunity to evolve and experience real life as a 21 year old, 25 year old, or even a 30 year old. Life experience is what helps us to evolve. She never had the opportunity to have adult experiences which helps to define who most of us will become. As she herself stated in this sequel, she is really like 19 years old as she spent the last 15 years of her life in prison. Therefore, I don't see how anyone could have expected her to have a different mind set.Overall, I am giving this book 3 stars. I believe that the book was different and very creative and she deserves credit for that. However, I don't like the direction that she took this much anticipated sequel that some of us waited 22 years for. It was very disappointing to say the least as it is definitely not what most of us expected to be reading with regards to the Santiaga family.

Thought provoking.
Sister Souljah a pure writer who uses her words to paint the status quo of our culture. Listen, you must read the entire book to receive the message. I admit I was disappointed when Winter was killed, but it's actually the title" Life After Death." However, I was intrigued by Souljah's creation of the afterlife similar to the imagery I witness everyday through social media, TV, etc., etc. At one point I was convinced that Winter's soul was going to marry the devil. She was too arrogant, obnoxious, selfish, conceited, and materialistic. But I felt sorry for her because she was a product of her parents. In the City of Mercy her counselor told her that she was staying in the Princess wing because she had a Princess complex. Enough said this book was deep, I connected to Winter cause I know a lot of women like her.

Tells you about the afterlife.
I enjoyed this book. It was very descriptive, and mind bending. If you are interested in the afterlife, the possibilities one may encounter, I suggest you read this book. I couldnt believe the information that was placed in here. There are so many levels one can relate to. This book may change your life, well your soul, or not, only if you love the darkness.

Good read but don't expect coldest winter ever
This book is not the coldest winter ever part 2,but it was still a good read. I will be honest I did read the end of each chapter then read the beginning and middle because it was abit slow in places but I'm glad I finished it.Also Winter was moving mad abit but she eventually got it.. Thank God because she was worrying me đ

20 yrs of waiting... for NOTHING
This book is trash, not worth the 20 yr wait at all. I'm annoyed that I purchased it because I feel lied to. It doesn't even read like a sequel its weird like some kind of sci-fi about the after life. Nothing about this book is hood literature. I'm glad they never made a movie because I would have walked out. The first book was a page turner and with this one I'm struggling to get through one page. I HATE this book and will never buy another one of her books again. I hate to feel like something is being shoved down my throat and this book is all about the Quran.
