These are good quality metal and are beefy, however, the bolts used at the hinge seem to be it's weakest points. Mine have rusted and makes the rest of the assembly look cheap. This tailgate hinge works well, however. I'm sure I will end up painting the bolts because the rest looks great. It also holds up well with a heavier wheel on the tailgate compared to the stock hinge. It takes care of the droop that the stock hinge had. That droop made it harder to close the tailgate unless I lifted up on the tailgate while closing it...or just not used the tailgate. I use it quite a bit actually, so that wasn't going to work. This is a good fix for the price. I know there are other designs, but I'm more for the simple design that works just as good. I have a 33" and not a 35 or 37 on my TJ, so this works great for me.

The pin sheared off the top factory hinge on my 2000 TJ, so needed to replace. These were very easy to install, are more rigid than the OEMs, and look better too IMO. Be sure to align the hatch closure once in place before tightening everything down. One thing to note, the backing plate on the bottom body mount can be reached from underneath, barely, so need to have someone hold that in place as you are taking the original bolts off or it will fall out. I reused the old T40 star bolts instead of the hex bolts provided, which didn't seem as well made. The new hinges are not countersunk with a beveled angle, but they snugged up nicely. Absolutely recommend these as a fix or upgrade.

My box did not have any hardware to attach the hinges to the vehicle, but the bolts were already installed between the mounting plate and the hinges. I have my suspicions this was a returned item, but it looked fine apart from the missing bolts. Based on previous reviews I wasn't going to use those bolts anyway. I reused the ones from the factory hinges and painted them black to match. It's all good, seems stronger than the stock ones and looks good.
