I was skeptical.. but not anymore. My MGD/Dry eyes are not such a problem anymore!
So.. I am not yet 50 and recently found out that 1) I had cataracts (2) I also had MGD and Blepharitis. Which apparently is what causes the fuzzy eye sight and the feeling of ground glass in my eyes in the am. It's not "just" the wine. I did some research on MGD and Blepharitis and found a Dr. in my area that performs Lipiflow. While I was waiting to get in to see her and talk about whether I was a candidate for Lipiflow, what it entailed, how long it lasts and cost, her website recommended that all patients take a quality omega 3 supplement. So I started with the Nordic Naturals. I take 2 before bed. I found that depending on what I'd eaten (or not eaten) if taking during the day, I would get VERY nauseous. No problems at bedtime. Between the Lipiflow and the ProDHA Eye (and my eyelid scrub and various drops), my eyes are feeling SO MUCH better. And looking better. I of course did MORE research on Omega 3s and why they are beneficial to people with MGD/Dry eye. The study I found was that Omega 3s and Omega6 compete for the same enzymes. Omega 6s people get from red meat. The double blind scientific study showed that you actually needed to flood your body with Omega 3s so the ration between O3s and O6s is correct . The year long double blind study for people with MGD/Dry eye had 1/2 of the group taking olive oil supplements vs. 1/2 taking identical looking flax seed oil supplements. After 1 year, the group with flax seed had significant improvement in all of the markers measured.. quality of the oil/lipds, tear development, and how quickly the tears evaporate (and some others that I was totally lost on..) The study noted that flaxseed oil supplements were used because 1) they used a manufacturer who was able to ensure that the olive oil supplement and the flaxseed oil supplement LOOKED identical for the double blind study (2) a common comment about fish oil supplements is fish taste/burps. Which would negate the double blind validity. So .. 1) I feel confident that Omega 3s are going to help with my MGD/dry eye. (2) I am a HUGE fan of the Lipiflow .. but it wasn't inexpensive. If it lasts 2 years.. I'd be ok if I HAD to do it. BUT if I can take these Nordic Naturals supplements and I no longer need to do Lipiflow. even better. Especially with the other health benefits of Omega 3s. This isn't the brand my Lipiflow Dr. recommended. But I'm super happy with them No fish burps or taste. On a side note about the benefits of Omega 3s.. the study also said the incident of people on the Mediterranean Diet (lots of fish, little red meat) or other areas where people eat large quantities of cold water fish (ie. Alaska), there is MUCH lower than areas where people eat more red meat. Sorry. I'm a data geek. And to be clear.. NON of this stuff is inexensive. Lipiflow, eye drops, fish oil.... so if something didn't work there is no way I'm willing to throw money at it. Also interesting to me is the ProDHA Eye has the EXACT SAME macros as one of the non-Pro Nordic Naturals eye products, except the non-Pro eye supplement is for only a 1 month supply (60) capsules for $40 something vs. a 2 month supple (120 capsules) for ProDHA Eye that while the price varies, is between $60-$75 for a 2 month supply. WIN. when it's at the $60 point I am stocking up and will refrigerate the 2nd bottle until needed.

This is the ONLY THING THAT HAS BEEN EFFECTIVE AGAINST my CHRONIC DRY EYE!
Thank God I found this stuff! Ever since I underwent ICL surgery, my RIGHT eye has been DRY... this was back in 2009 that I had the surgery, so it's been years of discomfort. I'd go a few days without a problem, but then it'd recur. I am on Xiidra which I am not even sure does anything, I've been on Restasis too (same thing, unproven benefit), all kinds of OTC eye drops, I have used warm compresses 2 x a day, and eyelid wipes, even a special face wash that has tea tree oil in it. But, over one month ago, I started taking these. 2 a day. Within a week - NO MORE DRY EYE! Ok, in the past 45 days, I've had maybe 1 or 2 very mild case of it - who knows why but I hope they never get rid of this stuff because it WORKS. I was shocked when I came back to reorder - why do 2 months of these cost this much (I forgot what it costs again.. when you're on the "review" page, the price goes away. Did I see 64.00 or 84.00?) Whatever. I'm buying another bottle or two right now, and THEN I'll see if I can get them any cheaper from somewhere else. Don't Hesitate! I'm so so happy I found a damned cure!

An Excellent Product
I decided to purchase Nordic Naturals - ProDHA Eye 120 gels for two reasons. Initially, a nutritionist and a chiropractor had recommended this brand due to the purity of its contents. The label itself is proof of that. Secondly, but equally as important, the DHA content is excellent. Findings are coming to the fore now re: how vitally important DHA (an omega - 3 fatty acid) is for the brain. It follows, then, that DHA is vital for the eyes as well as for the optimal functions at the cellular level. This bottle just arrived recently therefore I have begun to take it for only a few days. When I had taken one of the other Nordic Naturals formulas my naturopathic Dr. was amazed by my fabulous HDL numbers! I am certain that this product is a great benefit to the ongoing good health of our eyes, brain, etc. Nordic Naturals is the best!

Good if you plan on getting older
Recommended by my eye doctor (optometrist) as something to help stabilize age-related macular degeneration, which most people probably get to some degree. I've been taking 2 a day for a few years - expensive but I feel its worth it. This brand seems to be the most legit - this is unregulated territory so picking a brand is very important. I've bought this several times and find ProDHA Eye to be the best value. This is the packaging the optometrist sells - a consumer version is labelled differently and only comes in 60 gel capsules and is more expensive. That's why I but this.

Product is excellent but very expensive
Great combo for eye and brain health - does seems to make a difference on both fronts. I would give it 5 stars, but it's so darned expensive (especially since the recommended dose is 2 a day), it gets dinged one star. It doesn't have the copper and such that other eye vitamins have, so we give my dad ONE tablet a day plus 1/2 of an Ocuvite. My mom takes 2 of these a day, and it definitely seems to have helped her wet MD condition, which is now dry. A very good expiry from the provider. Thank you.

Best Omega 3 eye formula
My Optometrist highly recommended this particular manufacturer for 2 of their eye formulations. I’ve tried both to save my eyes from macular degeneration that may be inherited. I’m showing early signs of retinal thining and figure the high price for this product is worth my vision. I use this formula as it also improves my vision. My eyeglass and contact prescriptions are much improved on this formula. However, my Optometrist insists that it’s not due to this particular eye formula.Aside: my vision also improved with their other eye formula, just not to the same degree.
