Randy Riley's Really Big Hit

All Chris van Dusen books are basically awesome. Buy them all. I bought my first book of his at a botique toy store before I was married or had any kids. It was Mr. Magee goes camping. I put it in my hope chest for later. After I was married and had a son, we read him that and other Chris van Dusen books. It inspired us to get into vintage trailers. We read Mr Magee goes camping every night we camp in our 60s Terry and when we had our 50s Shasta.My son grew up a little and became obsessed with baseball, Chris van Dusen had a book for that, complete with his resplendent, detailed illustrations and melodic, flowing text. My son loves this book. We read it every night before baseball practice and games for sure. It doesn't focus on winning or losing, it has nothing really to say about how ridiculous kids sports have become, it focuses on triumph through observation, caring, hard work and thinking. Thank you Chris van Dusen. He promotes thinking through the unusual, unexpected scenarios in all his books.I'm into cars and appreciate his lovely vintage aerospace and mid century styled vehicles and "if I built l a car" was right up my alley. We have 7 or 8 van Dusen books and they are all a pleasure to read over and over, unlike some story books. I especially enjoy the length, rhyme and amount of text per page. Fantastic for bedtime or whenever. Anyone else receive kids books filled with four large paragraphs plus per page with a 30 page length? Those never get read at bedtime in our house, they fancy up the book case and get mistakenly chosen from time to time. I have two boys under 6, I am not spending 45 minutes on one book.Van Dusen is a master. I will buy every book he writes with a smile on my face, write my dedication to my kids on the inner cover and preserve them for the next generation. I buy them for other parents and fellow car and trailer enthusiasts with kids.You WILL love his illustrations and energy, his completely inconsequential stories which avoid any political, global, religious, ecological, patriotic, holiday or moral topics or references. Van Dusen makes such great books that you will catch yourself protecting, preserving and looking through them all on your own.

My grandkids LOVE Chris van Dusen books. I showed them to my daughter who teaches 1st grade and she bought several for her classroom. They are all fun to read out loud and neither my grandkids nor I ever get tired of them.

We love The Circus Ship and looked for another by Chris Van Deusen. This did not disappoint! The art is amazing as always, the rhyme just right and the story engaging! Definite recommend!

Great book, our son took it in to kindergarten as his favorite book and the teacher loved it so much we gifted her the same book! It has great rhyming for new readers!

This is by far my favorite children’s book and appears to be our young son’s favorite too.The illustrations are so amazing that he loves to stare at them. The story line is great too and proves that using your noggin is an important part of life.This storyline could seriously be a major motion picture. Beautiful book!

This book is awesome! It has a great cadence that goes perfectly with the storyline. Oftentimes rhyming books fall apart a little for the sake of the rhyme but this book is brilliant. My grandson struggle a little with ready and the predictably of the rhymes gives him confidence and motivation to read on. Other rhyming favorites of this type are the Llama Llama books, Room on the Broom, and our annual Favorite Santa’s Twin by Dean Koontz. Enjoy!

Chris Van Dusen is by far the best childrens author of our time. His illustrations tell the stories and the stories make the adult and child want to read on to see what happens. I live in Maine and he has a way making the pine tree state look like a fantasy land. These books have opened my grandchildren minds. They like to take his stories and add their own ideas. I read a lot of books to my grandchildren and Chris's book are the ones I look forward to reading. My 1 1/2 year old little grand daughter loves Hugo, she calls him Ooogoo. Thank you Chris

Randy Riley is awesome!Chris Van Dusen's books are amazing. We discovered him through our library and fell in love with his writing and art. We've read all his books to our kids hundreds of times each and they are always fun to read and look at. His art is really breathtaking. Best of all we got to meet him and get our books signed and he's even super cool in person. A really nice guy. I highly recommend getting his entire collection of books.

Great book! Great illustration! 3rd book I own by this author. It is a good story about a boy that isn't super athletic but enjoys baseball! My son loves reading it! Incorporates space and baseball.... definitely would recommend this for your child.

We live all the books by Chris van Dusen. His imagination is amazing, so are his illustrations.

This is a favourite book in our house!! We love Robota and Baseball and combining them together is fantastic
