Lisa and Lottie

A must read!!!
Few people are aware that this is the book on which the "Parent Trap" movies are based! It was written by German author Erich Kastner, and it is absolutely charming! Lisa and Lotti meet at summer camp in the mountains. Lisa lives in Vienna with her father, who is a famous composer and conductor, and Lotti lives in Munich with her mother, who works for a ladies' magazine publisher. The story will make you laugh and cry and cheer for the girls who want nothing more than to be a family again. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

well done translation of a classic
I remember reading this as a child in German. Its a pleasure to share it with my daughter now. The translation is well done - it reads very nicely - and book itself feels lovely - nice soft pages (I know that sounds weird but the bibliophiles will know what I mean).

... years searching for a lost twin (and found many good friends as a result)
I read this book as an 8-year-old in 1968 and spent the rest of my years searching for a lost twin (and found many good friends as a result). My parents often fought bitterly, although they never divorced, and this book helped me navigate those turbulent years. I am a huge fan of Kastner's Emil books as well. The movies are very different than the book. I thought it was a bit of a shame to eliminate the whole class dynamic (Lottie and her mother are poor in the book). But on the other hand, the movie put the mother and father on equal footing socio-economically, and that was very satisfying in its own way.

Childhood Memories
The original movie, The Parent Trap, staring Hayley Mills was one of my favorite movies as a child. I still enjoy watching it again every once in a while. In fact it was only recently I noticed it was based on this book, so I decided to read the book. I enjoyed the book and only wish I had read it as a child.

childhood favorite
This is the original story behind the movie "Parent trap". My daughter enjoyed reading it as much as I did when I was her age. The story is timeless. :)

Great present for my mom, read it in a day!
I bought this book as a present to my mom, she read it in a day and a half and greatly praised it over the film production. I too am looking forward to read it myself once I am done with the current book I am reading. My mother is very fond of the author, she has read many of his books during her early teenage years, and to this day she reads them as a memory of her childhood years. I would recommend this book to all avid readers.

Cute
This was cute & enjoyed the lines that were repeated in the Parent Trap original movie.Since the girls were younger (10) there were some lines that wouldn't be appropriate for teenagers so that was also funny.

Me encanto.
Hace poco descubrí que juego de gemelas estaba basada en un libro, así que estuve buscándolo como loca, finalmente aquí lo encontré, a un precio mucho mejor que en otras librerías online.Me encanto, super ligero de leer y además esta ilustrado.

A kids' view of family life
Having twins of 9 years and bringing them up in two different households I wanted to re-familiarise myself with the story that made me cry as a kid myself. Of course, the happy ending was too sugary for my taste as my life did not pan out that way!Still, very good read - a classical Kästner book!Definitely to recommend.
