Great Product -- The Second Time Around
Overall, I have to say that this is an excellent surge suppressor and stage-two line conditioner. Quality build, well labeled and more than sufficient protection for our home theater system (Panasonic GT50; Bose Cinemate GS system; HD-DVR; 3D Blu-ray player and wireless gateway.Monster gets an undue, bad rap for making sub-par products at a premium price. To an extent, I acknowledge a portion of that notion -- the products are somewhat over-priced for what they are -- but so are other excellent products made by other premium-name brands. Panamax, for example, is one such brand.I don't think one would argue that Panamax is, to a certain extent, a better brand that makes a better-made product. However, one also can't argue that it costs much more for an equal level of protection from Panamax's product line. But, if all things were to be equal, which they are not, I would go for a Panamax, too, due to consistently positive reviews regarding most of the company's product line. However, the Monster/Panamax debate/contrast will never end, just as the Audi/BMW fans will continue to battle it out. They are both great companies/products and they both have their respective pros and cons. But, I diverge. To get back on point, I would have given this product a five-star review if I had not had to return the first one, which I also purchased from Amazon. Although the first one (as did the second one -- my current one) come straight from Monster's factory -- still in a factory carton and inserted within an Amazon box -- the first one arrived with a host of issues. The only light that would continue to stay lit on the unit proved to be the light indicating that the power flow was being cleaned and "scrubbed." The other two green LEDs would go on and off, randomly and independently, indicating a possible system failure. Truth be told, this should have caused the system's failure alarm to sound. It did not, though. So, I contacted Amazon and, as usual, great customer service. Another HDP-1800 was shipped out right away, arrived perfectly, and remains perfect. It works fine and does a great job -- it does exactly what it's supposed to do.I've owned a number of Monster products. This is the first time I've ever had an issue with any type of Monster product, as well. So, yes, I think it's a great system. Every company suffers products that are faulty, so I'm not too upset with the experience. Besides, Amazon was extremely helpful. For what it does, and given it does what it does within a reasonable price range, I can't say that I would not buy another one.

So Far So Good!
I had been using a Tripp Lite Isobar surge protector but having purchased a Duromax 4400E generator in the event we lose power due to a hurricane I wanted to be prepared. However the Duromax label states that you need a clean power center to prevent damage to your electronics and the Duromax does not provide clean power. After searching thru Amazon I decided to purchase the HDP-1800. It has all the outlets labeled and is quite an attractive unit. It blends easily into any situation. So far it hasnt seemed to improve either my video or audio from my Sony 55" led hdtv, however, neither has it caused any deterioration of same. At the price I purchased it from Amazon it was a good deal as it has now increased in price. The booklet it comes with is no great shakes as it seems to tout all the big shots that have developed the Monster Line. Like I give a damn. They do supply labels to attach to your equipment ac plugs which is a good idea. It would be nice if the display dimmed just one step lower before it shuts down completely. So far Im very impressed with the unit and hope it does its job. DuroMax XP4400E 4,400 Watt 7.0 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wheel Kit And Electric Start

Dimensions listed wrong by Amazon
Just received it but Amazon listed its dimensions completely wrong. I had planned on sending it back before even receiving it when I realized it was much to wide for my entertainment console shelf. But Amazon listed the dimensions completely wrong in the listing. They list it as: 20.5 x 11.1 x 4.2 inches. Dimensions are actually: 17.09 x 9.49 x 2.25 inches. I think they listed the dimensions of the box it came in. Jeesh! Correct dimensions exactly written from owners manual. Hopefully this thing works better than the junk I previously bought here from Panamax that just shuts off and restarts due music resonance opening circuits inside the unit due to the poor build quality or design flaws of their over priced systems. This happened to me with both their 5300 and 5400 system. I had to send both back to Amazon and get refunded. Don't buy Panamax products.

Great protector and can handle a lot of power
I have a home theater system that includes a 65" TV, Cable Box, Blue-ray player, PS4, Receiver with Atmos setup, 2nd Amp, Sub woofer, and a butt kicker setup... I was nervous this would not handle the power draw but it does great. I've had it installed for a number of years and as far as I know it is doing it's job!

Monster HDP 1800 8
I got it and it was just fine it works well but no real instructions on the operation of the unit I guess they figure you can plug in every thing into the labeled ports and away you go, I figured it out though its pretty simple the box is just like hooking up a fancy power strip with named outlets for the HD TV and all the other electronic goodies you have to plug in. I like the peace of mind knowing that I am getting filtered power and have surge protection with a very good guarantee 300,000 if you stuff blows up (you most likely would have to prove it though)Pete
