Generally the magnet holder is sufficient by itself if you have the alarm turned off when in feeding mode but isn't good if an overflow occurs. I purchased the second holder so i could raise the float switch to a level just about the feed mode level in my sump. Now I can leave on the alarm in case a malfunction occurs.

Almost a straight replacement for the old cumbersome parts.

It says that it can be used to replace older bracket systems. Yes, with one caveat. It appears that the optical sensor in the older bracket system has a different size than the current optical sensor. But they do not include a properly shaped holder for the older optical sensor. You can slide it in, bend the plastic and it'll hold. But if you advertising that it "Can be used to replace older bracket mounting systems," you should include a holder to make it fully backwards compatible. That said, once you get the sensor in, it works great. So I only deleted one star.

I like these a lot! I wish they were more readily available but they work as described. I like it!
