Where has this been all my pool life!
We had a few cold fronts pass through Houston and my neighbors trees dropped oak leaves in my pool. I have always had a problem with collecting the leaves. I have had 2 leaf collectors that used a water hose to create water movement to collect the leaves and it was always a pain to use. I needed something easier to use and with much less hassle.I came across this product and thought I would give it a shot.It was much better than I could have ever imagined. I was a bit skeptical in the beginning thinking, am I really going to spend this much $$ for a leaf vac but thought, I can always return it if is was not what I needed. When I received it, I thought it was fairly well built and when I turned on the motor, I was curious how this would provide enough suction to pick up leaves.I used it for the first time and it worked great. It may not seem like it was strong enough outside of the water but once it started to move water it created great suction. I had TONs of leaves in my pool after the last cold front came in and it made easy work of it. It was well worth the $$ spent. As for longevity, I can not address that but since I have a salt water pool I made sure to rinse it completely and make sure it completely dried. I also got an extended warranty because even though it seems well built, water and electronics don't always work together for long periods of time. Especially salt water.

Made closing my pool easy
I closed my inground pool very late this year, due to a variety of circumstances. It was loaded with leaves, and my vacuum doesn't usually do well with very cold water. My robotic cleaner died early in the season, and stores were sold out... so I was looking at hours with a leaf rake, when I came across this item. I received it in short order, and assembly was easy. I had all the leaves picked up in under half an hour, including those that blew in while I was working. This thing is *great*! I don't know how long the batteries last, because the batteries it shipped with had no problems lasting for this job. If I were tasked at making improvements, I'd ensure that the piece that attaches to the pole be made of metal, and that the "wheels up" mode had a better locking mechanism. I think those two items would make it as durable as it is effective. But it gets 5 stars for saving my bacon this season, and will hopefully make cleanups super-easy for at least a few years to come!

Skepticism resolved
I have purchased every tool there is for my pool, and this is the best one. I have the rechargable battery stick vacuum, a hose version like this one, the rake, and even a $600 robot skimmer that rides on the surface. This one is the best. I still use my robot skimmer because it will clean dust and pollen too, but in concert with this vacuum, it's a clean pool on top and on the bottom. The one thing it doesn't do very well is vacuum up dust and dirt, sand and what-not, but it will keep it free from debris of all kinds including worms, dead bugs, and sticks. The problem with the dirt is that the bag is not fine enough. The robot vacuum says it has a 50 micron screen, so it does collect small dust floating on the pool. My skimmer also has a filter, but some will settle on the bottom of the pool. This won't solve that problem, but everything else... yes. And I've been using for a couple of months now and I haven't changed the batteries. Easy to change the bag and it will use a standard bag so you can get them at any pool supply store. Well worth the price!

simple, easy, quiet, and efficient...
This product is working great !! I have had it for one month now, and just had to change the batteries ... 8 AA .. and it is still working great. My pool is old and has no suction pressure for vacuuming... but amazingly, this little product... which is a very simple plastic battery operated device works so well, that it picks up the leaves, pollen, insects, dirt, and even most of the tiny particulate material that ends up on bottom of the pool , so that absence of vacuum is not a major problem. (The mesh bags enable it to pick up the smaller items... very little can get out, once it is in.. but just the right size so that it doesn't stop further pick-up due to pressure build up inside the bag.) It operates quietly and efficiently. Seems so simple,,, but I am sure that a lot went into designing the product so that it would work that way.

Worked well until it quit. For me that was 3 uses in 2 months.
When it worked it was very good at picking up leaves. However as almost every review states this is really poorly built. The battery holder is crap. it stopped working during the first use. The battery to battery connection is made with rivets and in mine all the connections were not made. After playing with it I got a connection, but the next time I tried to use it, it failed again. The battery compartment leaks water no matter how you try to seal it. this causes corrosion which makes a bad situation un usable. If the battery holder had not failed I am sure that the corrosion of the wire connections inside or the switch would have failed (as several other users have reported happening to them). This is really ashamed as if not so poorly built this could be a valuable tool. And as far as I can find there is not a good one available anywhere.

Works great for picking up leaves and other small debris
Purchased this three weeks ago to do spot cleaning of my pool between times when my normal pool guy comes with his large pro sweeper. This seems to do a great job picking up most leaves, grass and other small debris from the pool floor. After having read some reviews that talked about early failures, before I used it I took some silicone caulk and sealed up the motor housing and wire-entry points really well. So far it's working great!
