Kentrol 50535 Footman Loop in Black for 1997-2017 TJ and JK

Good solid windshield loop
Heavier duty than the OE version. All necessary parts included...loop, rubber pads, solid-washers, lock-washers, and nuts.Kind of tricky to install...for one person. I ended up sticking the screw ends through the hood and used a couple of small pieces of gorilla tape to hold the loop in place. I then laid the hood all the way back against the windshield frame. Leaning the hood back causes the screws to be pointed upward which allows you to simply drop the washers onto the them without them falling off into the engine compartment. Trying to put two washers on and thread the nut on was a pain...I had to figure out something after I dropped the first nut, luckily it fell where I could find it easily. Which reminds me, I tried the old nuts on the new loop and the threads matched so I saved the old nuts "in case" one did drop into the engine compartment a disappear. I tightened the nuts up to the point that the loop feels solidly mounted and called it "done". Looks good, too.

Not overly happy with the product
Two issues: 1. The point where the loop touches the hood is metal. Rubber washers for the loop are included, but these are too big in diameter to use on the surface of the hood. If you install the footman loop with the rubber washers underneath the hood with the other washers and nut, tightening the loop for a snug fit causes the hood surface to flex slightly and look distorted. I ditched the rubber washers but that means the metal of the loop is riding directly on the painted hood. The OEM loop has rubber flanges to protect the hood's paint. 2. The nuts included are tiny. Really tiny! The nuts from the OEM loop work on the Kentrol loop so plan to re-use.The two star rating is because this simple metal loop costs $20! For that amount I would not expect to encounter the issues noted in #1 and #2.

good replacement
Broke the OEM footman loop when I went to tie down the windshield on my JK. Found this product and ordered the same day. Overall great replacement. Fit was very tight, had to use a good amount of force to get the bolts through the holes but still looks good. Only complaint is that the supplied washers don’t fit over the bolts... pretty pathetic if ask me. Simple fix though, vice gripped the washer and drilled the the hole larger. $17 is a little pricy for a small and simple part but then again it is all steel so I would say it’s worth it

Get a smaller wrench
Once installed it looks good, just factory. However the posts, and especially the nuts are much smaller. Nuts are not locking and are very tiny (well below the standard size of Jeep fasteners). Use some loktite and it will stay.

Better than OEM
Bought for my 2006 TJ 4.0 which the original was complete broken off. Fit perfect but I used the original rubber pads and nuts that were on my Jeep. Product is well made and sturdy not plastic like OEM. You’re going to need to have someone help you hold hood unless you have long arms.

Tape in place and do Not over tighten .
Nice sold piece took 10 minutes to install. Well the car wash ripped out the original so all I needed to do was install this one.

As described 👌
As long as you put the exact year and model fits perfect. Solid metal(note: stock Jeep comes with a plastic type one). Took me 15 mins to take the old one out and replace it with this one (old one sheared off on one side)

Modifications Needed to Install
This part from China was packaged well but installation was a little tricky. It came with two washers that didn’t fit. The diameter of the hole in each of the washers was too small to fit over the bolt and I had to enlarge them with a drill. One of the nuts was 9 mm and the other was 10 mm. Why wouldn’t they be the same? It is nice that it is metal instead of the stock plastic. Hopefully it will hold up.
