Great for Pad Thai!

Loved this in our sinigang! We don't use the packets most Filipinos use because we're health conscious and those are filled with lots of things that aren't necessary for good sinigang. I do however crave the same flavor as the packets since that's what I grew up on. I've tried three other tamarind pastes and this has gotten the closest to the flavor of the packets! It did take a whole bottle so it's a bit pricey but worth it for that "traditional" flavor.Here's the recipe, since you asked ;)2 inches of fresh ginger (peeled), lots of minced garlic, one chopped onion, and 2 rough chopped tomatoes. Brown the beef chunks and short ribs (or choice meat) with all of that and salt and pepper. Cover with water and let it simmer for 2+ hours till meat is tender (obvs if you use different meat, timing will vary). Add in this whole thing of tamarind (or less if you don't love sour) and some fish sauce (maybe a TBSP). Put in some veggies like cut up eggplant, diakon radish, and or green beans. Simmer till the veggies are tender (about 20 minutes). I add in lots of fresh spinach at the end let sit for a few minutes before eating so the spinach can wilt. Serve with rice! SO GOOD 😋

Because this is more like a slurry than a paste and not cheap, I would have given it 3 stars, but I made a decent tamarind agua fresca with it, so I am happy. I think you could get 3-4 gallons of agua fresca out of this bottle

I usually buy dried tamarind beans to make AguaFresca but its hard to find online for a normal price so I decided to try this. Its perfect. Like pure tamarind. I put a spooful or two in a glass of sprite and have been stuck on that so I havent tried makinb agua fresca yet but I think it will be better than the other concentrates I found,maybe not as good as the dried beans but I dont see why it wouldnt be as good,less work for sure!

I wish the price is a bit more reasonable

Haven’t used it yet, I hope it’s worth the money in terms of flavor. Dissapointed at such small jar.
