Are these the boots for you? Maybe/Maybe not.
I have now had my Kenetrek Men's Mountain Extreme 400 insulated boots for a full year and finally feel qualified to give an objective review. Like others who have reviewed this product, the first thing I noticed was how uncomfortable the provided insoles were. Horrible. But that was easily remedied with a pair of high quality work boot style insoles. The fit was perfect for size in my 10 1/2W and the boots were pretty comfortable right out of the box. They do require a break in period to adjust to your feet. I would say that mine felt broke in after about 20 miles. I now have about 700 miles on them and they are still quite comfortable, with no breaking down of the foot bed, or any other part of the boot. The sole still has about 50% tread remaining. The boots are very warm and are comparable to several 800 gram hunting boots I've owned. I kept the boots relatively clean and used the Kenetrek boot treatment periodically and had no water leakage through the Wintex™ waterproof barrier despite hiking and hunting exclusively in an extremely wet (Kodiak, Alaska) environment. The boot tongue is a little stiff at first and this is where some of your break in will be required. The good thing is that the tongue tucks into the boot along the side folds easily, and laces up securely providing good side support. The eye rings and hooks are extremely strong and I don't think you could break one accidentally if you tried. I tried a lot. The ankle support is very good without being too stiff and I felt very little heel slide in the boots, even on extreme side hills. I did notice some pressure on my heels in the area of the rubber rand where it overlaps the back stay when side hilling, but never experienced any bruising or blistering. Now for the negative. You would think that a boot made for extreme mountain conditions would have a sole and tread pattern that would stick like glue to a variety of surfaces in wet, icy, or otherwise slippery conditions. These boots are the opposite of those boots. The first time I went for a hike I nearly wiped out on every wet stick, stone, limb, root, rock, and slick spot I encountered. Which seemed like every other step. Luckily I use trekking poles and had a couple of extra contact surfaces when one foot or the other tried to sneak out from under me. I have had slick boots before but found that they usually get better as they wear in. Not these boots. After a full year I am still slipping and sliding all over Kodiak, but being the stubborn man I am I refuse to yield. Once they have reached the end of their somewhat useful life and lack any further redeeming qualities, I will throw their happy asses in the nearest dumpster and never look back. If you live in a dry climate, without anything more slippery than dry grass, or dry rocks, or dry sticks, or dry sand, these boots will do a nice job. If you live in Alaska or the Pacific Northwest coastal region, you might want to look at other boots.

Well crafted boot
I haven’t had the boots long enough to give a good review. But, out of the box these boots are great once I replaced the insoles like I do on all my boots. There’s no way I could use the supplied insoles. The arch is way too high for me. The toe box is roomy. I wear a 12 ee and these boots fit true to size. You can tell these are a seriously well crafted boot. I can’t comment on longevity yet but I expect these boots to last for a very long time.

Worth the money
I spent the fall and summer scrambling for new boots once I realized my old pair were killing my feet.I'm a big guy but get out and walk during game seasons. I was able to put many a mile on these boots on uneven ground. The sole makes them far superior to any other boot I've worn. I'd have never been able to hunt as hard as I did this year without them. They are far and away the best boot I've worn. The only downside is that the stiff sole makes traction on wet ground a bit treacherous. I can't feel when I'm standing on a stick under wet grass like I could on the old boots. So you need to pay more attention to where you are going or standing on.

Great comfortable boots
My husband LOVES these boots. He has rheumatoid arthritis, these boots offer the best support for his feet he’s ever had. I’ll also add, my son and his wife also each have a pair of these and love them. All three family members say these are the best boots they’ve ever worn. Great for hunting hiking and just hanging out. Would definitely buy again and very happy with them. Waterproof and mud proof.

Great fit, very comfortable, great construction, great purchase.
I put these on and walked around the house for an hour. The boots felt good.Today, I put a pair of base layer socks and heavy merino wool socks over themI walked 9.75 miles of mostly flat trail with a mix of sand base and asphalt.Wearing these was like a dream. No foot discomfort. Perfect fit. These will be my elk hunting boots in Dec.

Best boot I’ve found
Best boot I’ve found. Used to be a big Danner fan for my work boots until I purchased a pair of black Kenetrick work boots and was amazed at the fit. So, I ordered the hunting boots shortly after and found them to have the same great fit. The ankle support is crazy, like a downhill ski boot, Lots of support from my high arches too. The boot feels like it was Custom made for my feet!

Incredible boot
Amazing comfort straight out of the box. I’m only 25 miles in, but I know these boots are legit. I’m wearing sock liners and medium Merino socks. I have blistered a little with heal lift, but the double socks and new lacing strategies help. Super quality boot. Can’t wait to see how long I can make them last. Sizing stresses me out as I wanted to get it right. I left a little room I. The toes which I’m glad I did for some steep decents and had no contact with the front of the boot.Incredible boot. Would recommend to anyone. Frank church wilderness comping soon….

Nice boots
Awsome boots. Been hicking in rain for a week in the Rockies. Feet are always dry and warm. I would feel real comfortable hicking out big game on my back without worrying about flimsy boots Buy em
